When the news first broke that Jude Law had joined the cast of Captain Marvel, it was strongly suggested that he'd be playing Carol Danvers' mentor and the man who first held her superhero mantle, Mar-Vell. However, a recent Funko POP! image seemed to reveal that he'd actually be portraying that character's mortal enemy and the main villain of the piece, Yon-Rogg.

Well, it looks like the first rumor was on the level!

Several new pieces of merchandise art for the movie have found their way online, and a couple of 'em make it very clear that Law is indeed playing Mar-Vell. So, who's been cast as Yon-Rogg? Perhaps it'll be a familiar face, or he'll only have a minor role and won't be a big name. We'll find out soon enough either way!

In the meantime, you can check out the artwork, which also features the other members of Starforce, down below.

This doesn't mean he won't turn out to be Yon-Rogg in the end.

Makes sense...I personally never thought he was anyone else...

Maybe the transfusion they give Carol is from Mar-Vell...Would tie things up nicely...

Imagine if he comes in at the end of the movie to save the day?

"This is not Brie Larson, Oscar-winning actress, phoning in a high-profile performance. This is Larson playing an emotionally detached character who has to rediscover her humanity in order to become a hero, rather than a superweapon mindlessly fighting on behalf of the Kree."
