CAPTAIN MARVEL Enlists KRYPTON Composer Pinar Toprak To Score

Marvel Studios has enlisted Krypton composer Pinar Toprak to score Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's upcoming Captain Marvel, which means she will be the first female composer ever to score a Marvel movie.

For the first time in its history, Marvel Studios has enlisted a female composer to score one of their blockbuster films as Pinar Toprak has revealed, via Instagram, that she will score next year's Captain Marvel, which will be the twenty-first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Toprak's past work includes Syfy's hit Superman prequel series, Krypton, and the popular video game Fortnite. She also contributed additional music for Zack Snyder's Justice League last year.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are helming the upcoming movie, which will be the first female-led Marvel film since 2005's Elektra, which is, of course, not apart of the MCU. Academy Award-winner Brie Larson is headlining with a supporting cast that features Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, and Clark Gregg.

Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter has shared a brief description of a recent scoring session they were fortunate enough to attend last month.

"Heat Vision attended Captain Marvel scoring session last month, and saw Toprak at work at Warner Brothers’ Eastwood Sound Stage. Vibrant strings were mixed with state of the art synths to create powerful action sequences. The compelling melodies evoked images of a fierce battle, and quickly retreated to softer, emotional notes for a more personal moment. Toprak conducted the entire scoring session, then raced over to a panel for her other superhero project, Krypton. No footage of Captain Marvel was shown during the session, which featured a number of musicians as well as mixer Alan Meyerson, known for his work on Hans Zimmer's superhero films such as The Dark Knight."

Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel features:
Directors: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck
Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Jude Law as Mar-Vell/Walter Lawson
Ben Mendelsohn in an undisclosed role
Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer

It's interesting with unknown composers, cos you can't really get a sense of how good they are. That description sounds great though, and I'm all for changing up the usual stable of blockbuster composers which Marvel seem to be doing a lot of lately.

Marvel Studios has been killing it with the Orchestral Scores lately, tho i'm of the few who actually listens to their scores lol and have loved most of them troughout these 10 years, their latest movies have had some of he most melodic, beautiful, emotional and fitting scores i'd say, wish her the best of luck and hope she blows me away. I'll check KRYPTON's sounstrack i love soundtracks.

Oh and i love that she's really unknown, this is the first time i hear of her. I wasn't appealed by KRYPTON so i didn't know, that's great i love to be surprised by these kind of stuff.

She’s pretty good! I’ve been listening to her scores on Apple Music. They’ve got a good heroic and triumphant feel to them.

Aside from the past setting of this movie and the young versions of some characters, I'm not really excited for this. Maybe Im not just a fan of the character cuz I'm not familiar of her.

Hope the score is great. I know nothing of hers but Phase 3 has been having great scores, Black Panther's being my absolute favourite so far. Thor: Ragnarok, Doctor Strange, GotG Vol. 2 and Infinity War had great scores too.

No one has had the balls to say that against all odds, Krypton was [frick]ing great, so I will lol

Brainiac was one of the best villains ever made in a comic TV show. Music was good, acting was all right, very little cringe drama shit, decent story, unbelievable VFX for a TV show… I was expecting nothing out of it, binge-watched it and was gladly surprised.
