On Whether Or Not Uncanny X-Men Will Continue To Be The Flagship Title:

I feel the audience decides what is or is not a flagship title, but I will say that UNCANNY X-MEN will be the one-stop shop for these very important characters in the mutant [corner of the] Marvel Universe and the Marvel Universe proper. I'm very lucky that I get to write ALL NEW X-MEN and UNCANNY X-MEN at the same time. I can examine this fascinating part of the Marvel Universe from vastly different angles. I can't think of a time where the mutant part of the Marvel Universe has been more exciting. Every character is so complex and there are so many characters interacting. Literally anything could happen. It is not unlike the job I had writing NEW AVENGERS and DARK AVENGERS at the same time, even though this is not DARK X-MEN.

On How The Idea Of A New Uncanny X-Men Series Came About:

Everything in UNCANNY X-MEN came right out of our story planning for Avengers Vs. X-Men. There was a great deal of time where Marvel had asked Jason Aaron and [me] to bring all the elements of the story together. It was during this process that both of us came up with a lot of ideas for the mutants going forward. By this time I knew that I was taking over the X-Men and that allowed me freedom to take his [X-Men] characters into places I probably wouldn't have the guts to [in AVENGERS VS. X-MEN] if it wasn't my job to clean up the mess so to speak.
While we were discussing whether or not it was time for Charles Xavier to die, one of the reasons I was all for it was because it made all of my books so much more interesting.

On Bringing The Relationship Between Cyclops And Emma Frost To An End:

The romance is done. They are not together anymore romantically. It's pretty hard to come back from what they went through in Avengers Vs. X-Men. Things were said, powers were stolen, and as we will discover in the very first issues of UNCANNY X-MEN, some things happen between them that cannot be taken back. And because they are Scott and Emma, this breakup is going to take a while. And it's not going to be pretty, but fun to write. If the Avengers are a family, then UNCANNY X-MEN is a very, very, very dysfunctional family. But these characters really do need each other. And some of them love each other. And some of them don't.

On Taking Magneto In A Bold New Direction:

What you are going to see with Magneto is a very specific new chapter in his life. At the last Marvel [creative summit] we were talking about the fact that we often break our heroes but never do much to our villains. We would put the Fantastic Four through the ringer but Doctor Doom is always Doctor Doom. I gave that conversation a lot of thought. What happens in the pages of UNCANNY X-MEN will establish a very bold, new chapter for Magneto. Magneto, when written well, is trying to make the world better for mutantkind. He just doesn't think, or [didn’t think], that humans and mutants can or should get along.

On Where Scott Summers' Head Is At As Leader Of The New Uncanny X-Men:

You will discover in the very first issue of ALL-NEW X-MEN exactly where Scott Summers’ head is at. Of all the X-Men that feel it is their job to further the legacy of Charles Xavier, no one feels it more strongly than Scott Summers. Scott Summers himself is not only trying to save these kids but he is trying to train them and get them ready for what he feels is coming mutant revolution These new students represent his only hope for true redemption. And his only hope to make the world the way he really thinks it should be.

On The Relationship Between All-New X-Men And Uncanny X-Men:

At least initially my goal is to do exactly what I did [with] AVENGERS and NEW AVENGERS. The books will connect thematically and sometimes even story-wise, but you don't have to buy both books to enjoy them. Hopefully I will make you want to buy and read both books with our stories and our characters. But these books are both looking at mutants and Marvel from their unique point of view. Both of these books' points of view are, in my opinion, very legitimate and very much a concern.

Why? so you can have your boring status quo Scott and Jean relationship back?

Can't handle it when characters grow and change?

Bendis is an interesting fellow. He has really great ideas. The problem is the ratio of successful executions to great ideas isn't that great. A lot of them start great and then fizzle out. He's a great showman, though. There's no denying that. When you read his interviews you want to believe this really is an exciting thing that's coming up. I'm interested in his New X Men and Guardians of the Galaxy though.

So is he going for the 16 year old jean grey when she comes back from the past.

Never understood Bendis' popularity. I think he's one of the worst writers ever. Here's my prediction for his run on X-men.. a lot of mutants standing around talking, each one exhibiting the same sardonic wit.

Don't worry, they will have makeup sex by the end next year and be together again...unless Cyclops hooks up with another telepath.

@JonathaNisMagnuM

I would love to see him return as Cyclops at some point, and with the John Cassaday look. i always think it was a ashame they didnt give him such an important role in the movies as they give it to Wolverine.

Anyway, I need to confess that Im really diggin' up Cyclops and Magneto new looks, Magneto new helmet looks a lot like the one of his Age of Apocalypse counterpart, Im even excited for the new series, even if Bendis is writing.

@JonathaNisMagnuM totally agree about him returning and redeeming Cyclops. It's the thing I hate most in the movies out of all the numerous things to hate.

@GLprime I thought that Exact sane thing. Hmmmm

Or he could jump on the Rogue gravy train.

Either way I'm actually getting more and more excited about this stuff. Team Cyclops!

WE NEED A REVOLUTION IN THE COMICS AND IN REAL LIFE!!!!

I cant wait. I do hope cyclops and emma get back together because it does make them better characters.

Also the one thing that I hate about the x-men films is that wolverine is the mane character becuase Cyclops was the frist x-man so why does he take a back seat.

Cyclops crying in the 2nd movie when Jean died was some pretty horrible acting. Someone should've told him to over-act more with the lower half of his face, since his eyes are hidden.

@Lensherr

It was horrible acting cuz it didn't make any sense to him or anybody else that he would start crying like that. And especially not on Logan. Stank of exec. Marsden is a solid actor, but if you ask him to do something that's out of whack, it might come out forced.

Haha true enduring love is no longer status quo in comics, Huck. Status quo is two character talking for a few panels, banging, dating for a few issues then moving on is status quo.

About time. Emma an Scott together was an interesting idea at first but as I've often said, Emma overstayed her welcome and their relashionship became boring (and WTF was that whole cheating with Namor deal?).

Cyclops needs to be alone for a while, concentrate on leading and preparing the new mutant generations as well as kicking major ass.

#TeamCyclops FTW!

I'm sad to see Scott and Emma break up, because they seemed like a real couple to me. Love isn't always pretty and perfect. Hmmm... I can't see Scott with Storm or Rogue. I know he digs Psylocke, but I think the deaths of Warren and Fantomex will have her single for a while. He could bang Mystique but never love her. If Chuck Austen were writing, he'd probably bang all 3 of the Stepford Cuckoos. Frenzy still has a crush on him, but she's just not his type. Illyana would make a really poor substitute for Emma, Scott would have to be drunk or ensorcerelled to even consider it. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the best match for Scott, barring Psylocke, would be M (Monet). We know he digs telepaths, and M has all of Emma's bitch-goddess attitude yet is completely trustworthy. The age difference is an issue but M's no child, and Scott was never her teacher - so the age issue is more "interesting" than "disturbing". M has just rejected Guido, who is her complete opposite, and I could see her going for a more mature guy.
