COMICS: Check Out The Return Of Apocalypse In First Look At UNCANNY AVENGERS #6

With a cover by John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men) and stunning interiors from Daniel Acuna (Wolverine), this first look at Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers brings Thor face to face with Apocalypse in a follow-up to "The Dark Angel Saga".

Quite something, eh? As well as confirming that Daniel Acuna will be taking over from John Cassaday as regular artist (he will still continue to provide covers however), Uncanny Avengers is set to explore Wolverine's recent decision to kill his son (Daken) in the pages of Uncanny X-Force. Here's what Remender had to say about how the Apocalyse storyline ties into that series:

"A lot of this story picks arc from the Dark Angel Saga from Uncanny X-Force, though it's not a sequel. We've spent a lot of time incorporating Kang and also Thor into Apocalypse's mythology. The fun of Uncanny Avengers is the A meeting the X in a big way. You don't need to have read the Dark Angel Saga to understand this, but if you have, here's where that picks back up. In that story, Archangel impregnated Pestilence. Whatever she gives birth to is going to be a problem for people and also involve Kang's machinations and scheming."

Horrible costume change! His classic costume didn't need to be changed!

Obviously a flashback sequence...love how Thor is being portrayed as more viking'esque' in the past both in this now and his own series...

Okay I actually really dislike that costume for Apocalypse however... from the looks of things its not the current costume... its an old one.

Thor's look here, as well as him using that axe, shows that this is from his past. It is how they have been differentiating him visually in the new GOD OF THUNDER series... so this appears to be a story where Thor encountered Apocalypse in the past..

Is that Loki in the 3rd frame?

Also, and I realize this is strange... but it may not be OUR Apocalypse. Uncanny X-Force made Apocalypse pretty clear as a being with abilities granted to him(by the Celestials I believe) that was to shepherd the next stage of evolution... so its possible that Thor is fighting an incarnation of that role on another planet...

Apocalypse looks pretty lame in that first pic. That being said, I'm pretty excited.

This looks cool but what's with Marvel putting Avengers in every title?

Whatever. Thor vs. Apocalypse is something I've been waiting to see for a while.

This is going to be interesting. No Xmen hmmmm. That being said, I can't wait for this and I'm still hoping...

One day we will have an Xmen reboot and finally get Apocolypse on the big screen!!

Apocalypse looks like be has a bowl cut. That aside, it's about time we see the big A interacting with the other heavies in the Marvel U. That X Factor annual where he fights the High Evolutionary to a stand still was awesome.

Is that supposed to be Apocalypse? LAME! What a stupid looking costume. Why tamper with a classic?

Layouts on the interior art aren't bad, but it's screaming out for a better inker.

John Cassaday isn't doing the art?! I'm not surprised. Acuena is doing the art....not a fan of his.

WHY can't Oliver Coipel do some art now? He can do a least one story arc.

Cassady is a great artist, but he's really slow like Brian Hitch. I think a rotation. And I would not be surprised if Jerome Opena comes in with Dean White for a few issues, even though he's on the rotation for Hickman's Avengers series.
