Well, it would appear as if the return of Jean Grey will be just one of the many changes set to occur in the Marvel Universe at the conclusion of Avengers Vs. X-Men. It has already been rumoured that the publisher will be doing some sort of relaunch (possibly called "Marvel Now") which won't effect continuity, but will take many titles back to #1 with new costumes and creative teams for many of their characters. However, the return of Jean Grey might be the most surprising change yet! Check out the image below (which also appears to feature the Hulk - could this have something to do with the rumoured Uncanny Avengers comic book?) and the text which accompanied it over at Entertainment Weekly.
To answer your questions: Yes, this is Jean Grey — as in, the Jean Grey who’s been absent from Marvel comics ever since dying for a second time back in the mid-00s. And yes, she is modeling her vintage blue-and-yellow X-Men outfit from her Marvel Girl days. Does this mean that the fan-favorite character is finally returning? We can only confirm that her presence in the Marvel universe will not be imaginary. This will not be part of the Ultimate line-up. She will not be a zombie hologram, like Shard on X-Factor. What could this all mean?
Well, despite it looking more like Hope Summers than Jean Grey in that image, the text above seems pretty definitive. She's coming back! The site describes this as, "an upcoming initiative by Marvel Comics that will build off the current Avengers vs. X-Men crossover and radically alter the Marvel universe as you know it." With more details promised for tomorrow, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
