COMICS: Will AGE OF ULTRON Lead To An All-New Marvel Universe?!

The ramifications of Age of Ultron will reportedly leave a lasting impact on the Marvel Universe, but will that mean a reboot in the style of DC's "The New 52"? Hit the jump to check out the solicitation details for issues #7 and #8 of the upcoming event!

Last month, we learned that Wolverine and the Invisible Woman will travel back in time in order to undo the events of Age of Ultron. As you can now see from the solicitations below, their attempt to stop the android villain will seemingly result in the creation of a new and warped version of the Marvel Universe (perhaps explaining that recent image of a very different looking group of Avengers). Personally, I don't believe that this will lead to a relaunch - especially after the recent wave of new #1's for "Marvel NOW!" - but it certainly sounds as if we should expect for this event to have a big effect on our heroes moving forward! What do you guys think?

In an attempt to defeat Ultron two Marvel Heroes take it upon themselves to create an all-new Marvel Universe. But is the one they have created better or worse than the one they left behind? The event of the year just got INSANE!!

A reality-spanning choice is made this issue that will affect the Marvel Universe for years and years to come.

this what i don't get if ultron is suppose to be this superior robotic intelligence then why would he let the one guy in the marvel universe who has unbreakable bones and claws that can even cut through him and has a (over hyped) healing factor and can heal from anything live. If I was ultron he would be the first one I get rid of. Then go after all the brains of the MU. Just my opinion.

Well, I doubt it'll really come into something like the New 52. IDK. Personally I don't think Marvel needs a New 52 thing. Spider-man needs to have OMD undone. But that's it. Except they do need to get rid of some annoying characters... hopefully they can kill some annoying people off.

I am so tired of Marvel. They have more of these "Epic Crossovers" more than any other company in the history of comics combined. just within the past 10 years. The books are uninteresting, everything is [frick]ed up, and the changes unnecessary. And yu know fully well that they'll just change it up again in a few months. Even New 52 kept it fairly simple, and back to basics. I haven't bought a Marvel book in close to 7 years as a result of this stunt-driven, heavy handed crap.

I thought Heroic Age was a Marvel reboot? Then I thought Marvel Now was a Marvel reboot? Marvel needs to get their shit together and just stop renumbering everything for a good couple of years.

While I love a good Ultron story as much as anyone, I'm passing on this. This is just another overblown 'event' designed to milk as much money out of readers' pockets as possible. OH, but it "will change the Marvel Universe forever!!!". Yeah, I've heard that before. And anything that happens in one of these 'events' that DOES change the status quo is usually something I REALLY dislike, such as House of M wiping out a lot of the mutants or the Shitvil War revealing Spidey's identity to the world which required the awful One More Day and its aftermath to "fix", and which ended with Steve Rogers "dead". I hope to live to see a day when Marvel gets away from these endless 'events' and cheap shocks and gets back to telling great self-contained stories with some of the greatest fictional characters ever created.

Who here has read this already? No one? Then can the crap!

It's one thing if you've read the book, or even started to read it and quit. I can understand preferences. I can undersatnd informed decisions. But this continous "dump on the new story crap cause its a crossover" is infantile.

Anybody remember when DC said no crossovers in the new 52? Well, what was Rise of the 3rd Army or Death in the Family? Yeah they all do it. AND if they didn't crossover the same people would be here complaining that no heroes play in the same sandbox anymore.

People are entitled to opinions, but please make informed decisions before publically sounding ignorant.

Cause one thing is for sure, Comic sales are double what they were 10 years ago and though you might bash these crossovers, people are buying them.

I for one have been waiting for this Ultron plot to get here for a long time. It's been seeded since Annhilation: Conquest and The beginning of the heroic age.

The Marvel Universe has, contrary to popular belief made remade numerous times. Age of Apocalypse was originally 616 in the future. Then there's Days of Future Past, Infinity Gauntlet, House of M, One More Day, etc, etc. And that's not to even mention all of those little stories that just happen to undo the Marvel Universe just to put it back to normal again. The only difference between these events and a "Crisis" is that 616 is not officially or radically changed enough for it to be considered such an event. This could be where Age of Ultron is different.
616 has always been essentially the same continuityand it is to be applauded for that, but it really is starting to get a little more convoluted than usual and I'm just wondering how long it's going to be before the last straw is placed on the back of Marvel's continuity. This may be a good move.
Besides, what with Disney's aquisition of Marvel, I would think that Marvel have even more cause to have an event that seperates theold order from the new than DC did, with Flashpoint.

@ lazyknight

marvel now isn't a reboot,its a relaunch not a reboot.

all its history is intact where dc wiped their history with the new 52.

Their going to finally make 616 into the movie universe, if you think about it it would suck.
I want my comics to stay comics and have nothing to do what happened in the movies.
Shadowelfz
Shadowelfz - 2/14/2013, 11:42 AM
I really hope they do. The current 616 is so screwed up because of poor decisions at Marvel I find thier comics unreadable.

Marvel has better characters than DC so it should reason they should have better comics.

you are 100% correct about age of apocalypse, legion went back in time to kill magneto but killed professor x by mistake if i remember correctly.

legion quest is the story that kicked off age of apocalypse.

TankD: According to Marvel, time travel for them just creates another universe in their multiverse, and doesn't change events in the main continuity, which I find rather stupid. If I travel 30 years in the future right now, everything I would have done in those 30 years wouldn't have happened, it'd be a different future, one where there is no future me. I would have to travel back to exact same time I left in order for the future to not be changed. So the younger X-men traveling through time should have either altered the present day 616 universe, or put them in an alternate future. Not have them encountering their future selves. You could theoretically travel back in time and see your self, but not forward and see yourself, because they wouldn't be there(for the reasons I previously stated), that's what's known as a time paradox.
Paragon79
Paragon79 - 2/14/2013, 1:15 PM
TankD: I'm just saying they should follow their own rules, if time travel for them creates an alternate future(basically a new branch in the multiverse), then that's where the young xmen should be, not time traveling into the future, ending up in 616 continuity, with no changes to the time line, that makes absolutely zero sense.
