What I Liked

✔ Lots of action and a great frantic pace that matches the tone of the story

✔Fantastic art that was expressive and epic

✔Story moves the overall plot forward a bit, although it’s mostly action

✔Great interaction with heroes across the DC Universe

What I Didn’t Like

✘Story is a bit confusing because it’s part of two annuals that also came out on Wednesday, so unless you’ve read those, the plot is a bit messy.

✘Not much meaningful dialogue, but this is minor since this was the climax of a big crisis that required more action than character development

Themes:

Trust and friendship are the two big themes that stick out in this issue. Repeatedly throughout the book, characters mention trusting one another’s judgment, as well as their loyalty to each other and the cause of defending the planet.

Superman gives his friends credit for rescuing him from the Doomsday virus, and hopes he can live up to their expectations for him. It’s obvious he cares more deeply for them now than ever before.

Friends are an important part of life. Everyone needs them, no matter how much they say they don’t. Life is not meant to be lived alone, isolated from others. We all need a support network of people we trust who will be there for us, and more importantly, allow us the pleasure of being there for them.

Overall Score: 8.5 out of 10
