There's a strong chance we'll get a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness during tonight's Super Bowl, and that will hopefully offer a much better idea of how crazy things are really going to get during this trip through the MCU's Multiverse. With so many casual fans tuning into the football game, it makes all the sense in the world to reveal at least one big cameo!
Time will tell on that front, but newly revealed promo art from Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange sequel showcases the villainous Gargantos and Rintrah, one of the new Sorcerer Supreme's pupils. We're not sure what he'll bring to the table - or who's playing him - but something tells us the character is going to have a fun dynamic with both Wong and Doctor Strange. In the comic books, he repaired the latter's Cloak of Levitation and became a trusted ally, as a result.
As for Gargantos, we still don't know for sure whether he's the same squid-like creature we saw in What If...? or simply a minor distraction for Strange until the real baddie shows up: Shuma-Gorath!
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. We'll journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
The movie's cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6.
