Marvel Courting Johnny Depp For DOCTOR STRANGE?

After years of being suggested for the Sorcerer Supreme, it appears Johnny Depp and Marvel Studios have taken steps to make the casting become an actuality... at least according to Latino Review!

On the heels of Marvel nabbing two-time Oscar-winner Michael Douglas for Ant-Man, the folks over at Latino Review reckon they know another big acting veteran on the studio's radar for another one of their upcoming “Phase Three” movies. “A well-connected source informed me tonight that Johnny Depp has taken a meeting with Marvel to discuss taking on the role of Dr. Strange,” the site reveals. The report further notes that the three-time Oscar-nominated Pirates of the Caribbean franchise star is very much a comic book fan and is keen on joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As many Comic Book Movie readers who look through the fan-fic section may know, Johnny Depp and a handful of other actors has been a longtime fan-favorite for the role of Dr. Stephen Strange. And Latino Review's sources suggest it's that connection that brought Marvel and Depp's camp together. Of course, actors meet with movie studios all the time and negotiations don't always prosper. Therefore, the prospective casting is far from a done deal, however, Johnny Depp playing the Sorcerer Supreme is now a definite possibility. The film doesn't have a director or a release date, but Doctor Strange is believed to nab the May 6, 2016 slot that Marvel/Disney claimed last year along with two other dates - July 8th, 2016 & May 5, 2017. Time will tell, what do you think?
