So, after months of speculation and rumours, we finally have a Doctor Strange in the form of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Imitation Game, and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch. Joaquin Phoenix looked like the frontrunner for some time, but after dropping out due to the lengthy contract obligations, the hunt resumed. Countless names followed, but as he was always a fan-favourite pick, Benedict Cumberbatch nabbing the coveted role seemed like a pipe dream.

However, after the trades all but confirmed it, Marvel made it official earlier this week. 

The response has obviously been very vocal, with some praising Marvel for seemingly listening to fans, and others criticising the studio for what they believe to be a "safe" and boring choice. So, how do you feel about the British actor bringing the Sorcerer Supreme to life on the big screen in 2016? I believe the best movie of phase 3 will be out of The Avengers:Infinity War Part 1 & 2 or Captain America:Civil War.

I also believe Thor:Ragnarok is gonna be the Thor movie we've been waiting for,the first two were good but not great.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 could be very good if its anything like the first movie.

As for the new movies of phase 3 they all have the potential of being great but of course not all of can or will be.

Somebody needs to explain "safe choice" when it comes to actors who've never portrayed a character before? Not ripping on anybody here, but really, how is something "safe"? Especially when it comes to movies and acting? Because he's a great actor who could portray the character perfectly? Just weird to me...

@batz Well... He's perfect for the role. We know he's going to knock it out of the park. Besides looking forward to a wonderful performance, there's not much excitement besides that. Personally at least.

I was really rooting for Phoenix.

Awesome choice. It's safe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We've got a pretty good idea what Cumberbatch can bring to the role, but there's still a little mystery left to it and that's why I love it.

If Marvel ever get the rights back for The Fantastic Four,The Illuminati is possible especially after The Infinity War & could be set up for phase 4.
