Death of Snape Changed in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2

JK Rowling apparently has approved the change for the upcoming film.

Most of you have read the Harry Potter series and know what to expect, but that has all changed now that JK Rowling has approved of a change in the death of one of the main characters.

Andrew Ackland-Snow, the art director for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, told Cine Premiere Mexico a little bit about the change. Obviously if you haven't read the books, SPOILER ALERT...

“We wanted to change a bit where Snape dies. In the book, he dies on the Shrieking Shack, and we wanted to get him out from, not a conventional interior, but from that kind of box, to do it in a more dramatic atmosphere. We asked J.K. if she agreed for that to happen in there, because we hadn’t really seen it before. We made a crystal house, and you can see what happens in the boathouse from there – Are you listening Harry? -, but also the school is in flames…and she loved it. Besides, it’s a very romantic place to die. Snape dies in a extremely good way, I gotta say.”

Now to my knowledge this hasn`t been confirmed or denied by anyone else since he said it, but who knows. Personally it doesn`t seem like it will affect the movie in a major way.

What do you guys think about the change, good or bad?

`Nuff said!

CBM Insert: For those of you who are complaining of the "spoiler" in the headline, Dustin wasn't responsible for it. WE changed it when we moved it from he main. And if you DIDN'T know that Snape dies... Where the hell have you been? Don't you read? This has been well-known since the book came out in 2007. As the most popular franchise of the age, you have to be an illiterate AND living under a rock to not know that. I suppose we shouldn't tell you this but... Darth Vader dies at the end of Star Wars... and so does Yoda. Now lay off of Dustin and pick up a book.

yeah i find it hard to believe that this detail still count's as a spoiler. and even if it is, read the damn book or don't complain, trust me there is way more stuff going on in this book than snape dying...like no one saw that coming anyway.

Sorry but read the books or don't complain doesn't hold any water. If I wanted to know about what happens in the films/books i would have researched it.

As a big fan of both the books and the movies, at least put a warning label in your article. Yikes man

If JK Rowling approves, i'm all for it

I was surprised how good part 1 was. It was by far the best Harry Potter film.

haha yeah you totally should have put an alert. You didn't spoil anything for me at least.
I don't mind that they changed the location, as long as they don't change the way he dies, what he says to Harry, or what happens in the next chapter, The Prince's Tale, which is the best in the entire series IMO.

I'm glad to hear that they're paying special attention to Snape in this. I really felt that he was watered down in Half-Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix. They better get his tale right...

Honestly after reading the book years ago I was extrmely disappointed with the death scene from the book. Alan Rickman was getting screwed out of the the 2nd most dramatic part in the entire series by writing the whole death scene in half a page. No pun intended.

Oh come on, so someone bothers to take the spoiler out of the title to bring it back!

Like I said i've read the book but remember there are people out there who haven't yet! This is as annoying as when images of Two Face in the Dark Knight turned up and it was plastered all over the first page without any spoiler tags...

lalosuper3001 - 1/20/2011, 10:32 AM
YOU are so INCONSIDERATE! I can't believe you wrote the spoiler on the title! I didn't want to know until I saw the movie! I didn't want to read the books until after the final movie because I don't like the movie to be a let down compared to the books. Thanks. Might as well post in the title what happens to everyone else...

lalosuper3001 - 1/20/2011, 10:36 AM
Basically, I have been covering my ears a nd yelling NA NA NA NA NA! Everytime anyone wanted to mention anything about the final book. And all for nothing! Now I just want to die!...

Okay, I guess I will be fine. Just don't do it again.

It's been four years since the book came out. If you don't know that Snape, Lupin, Tonks, Fred, Bellatrix, Wormtail, Voldemort, and sort of Harry die in this film, it's your own fault. Knowledge is power, boys and girls. Read.

Whoever edited and posted in red up top is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional... end of story.

Hey buddy, I actually do keep myself out of the loop of movies that originated from books as much as I can. There is nothing you can say to make your side of the story defensible in the least.

When your poor excuse is drowned out by the comments of displeasure then you should hang up your case. It's done with.

Apparently, reading the HP books is a prerequisite to read/post on this site. I thought not.

Be adult about it, admit you're wrong and move on. How ever you wanna say it... MY BAD, I'M SORRY, I'M RETARDED all work, take your pick.

Sorry for bitching at you Dustin03, it wasn't your fault. See how easy that was...
