Joe Mazzello To Play 'Mouse' In G.I. Joe 2!

The Social Network actor has signed up to play the character 'Mouse' in Jon Chu's upcoming G.I. Joe sequel. More after the jump!

Deadline is reporting that Joe Mazzello - best known for his roles in The Social Network and the first two Jurassic Park films - has signed on to play a new character in next year's G.I. Joe sequel, reportedly titled Cobra Strikes (despite some reports saying that it's now titled Retaliation). Not much is known about the character (who's known as 'Mouse'), except for the fact that apparently, many actors have been interested in the role. Deadline has the following...

Joe Mazzello has been set to play the role of Mouse in G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, a role a lot of young guys wanted in the Jon M. Chu-directed Paramount film.

So you want a GI Joe reboot? O_o Is the series really worth a reboot? First movie was horrible, but I don't think the franchise deserves another try. Just let the films die.

Wow, guess everybody here is ignoring the fact that the guys who wrote Zombieland and the said to be well written Deadpool script actually wrote for this movie.

Mouse is a young/geeky computer genius working for joes..I remmember seeing that character in gi joe/sigma six anime series..

I looked Mouse up at the GIJoe wiki:

"Mouse is a Screaming Eagles character from the Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles series"

For those of you who are ARAH purists like me, I had no idea what Sgt. Savage was until I looked it up:

"The Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles franchise began in late 1994 and is somewhat of a followup to A Real American Hero. Its fiction appears to be set in the same universe, as there are several returning characters such as General Hawk, Lady Jaye, Doc and Cobra Commander, all seen in the single animated episode."

I guess they are pulling in characters from the various GIJoe incarnations just like Bay did with Transformers.

I had high hopes for the first one, despite friends of mine that saw it and told me what to expect. I'll admit I don't know a lot about G.I. Joe anyway besides a couple episodes I saw as a kid and some action figures I got. But when I saw the movie I tried to like it, I wanted to like it, but in the end I walked away with an 'Meh...' kind of feeling, and I hate being 'meh' about anything! I hope this sequel is good. Though if there is anything that has proven that a sequel can redeem a franchise, it is the latest Transformers movie, so who knows how this will turn out.
