Promoting her recent flick Jumping The Broom with Cinema Blend, Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett speaks shortly on her 'Dr. Amanda Waller' role in the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern film, the character's involvment, and more.

"Well, I’m not 300 pounds," Bassett started, referring to the way that the character is drawn in the comics. Asking about her portrayal of the character, she said that she's actually "not heavily involved in the first movie," but does hope that she will develop more in the sequels. That said, in describing the character she says that she has "That intellectual, that bright, that no-nonsense, that means business [personality]. [She's] getting it done and in the trenches nothing fazes her."

When confirmation came of the character appearing in the film, many instantly assumed Warner Bros. was opening the opportunity for crossover films, that would eventually lead to a Justice League film. But with recent news of Green Lantern's star Ryan Reynolds assuring he won't be involved with that project, the same may go to Bassett's Dr. Amanda Waller. What do you think?

Anyhow, look for Green Lantern in theaters June 17, and Jumping The Broom May 6, competing with Marvel's Thor!

I think CCH Pounder that did the voice over on JLU would have been the perfect casting choice but oh well.

If they aren't crossing over, then why would DC let this property (GL) of all the current under production properties use the character? She is affiliated with Justice League only isn't she? If not, she definitely isn't a GL associate, right?

@WittySupername: I'm thinking the same thing. But I do hope that they'll use Waller/Bassett in a JLA or Suicide Squad movie.

I'm glad to hear that the character might appear in the sequel too.

@ BilltheButcher

What are you talking about dc keeping up with marvel. Have MArvel made a classic that people talk about for years like say Superman, Superman 2, Batman(89) Batman Returns, Batman Begin, The Dark Knight. The thing about Marvel movies they are good but they dont stand the test of time, they are quickly forgotten. When the new Spider-man movie comes out if good the ramini version will be forgotten. Batman(89)is not forgotten because of the success of The Dark Knight yet it stands as a equal. Iron Man will be forgotten. Thor will be the same way. Look at the Hulk no ones remembers the first film or even the second one. They remember a bad Batman and Robin movie which is another film that is in pop culture history for the horrible bat suit. I never here anything about Marvel stuff after their movies have been released. Dc characters make news for just making outfit changes for crying out loud. I never here people talk about marvel animation even though they have their films and cartoon series. I do here about the dc animated movies as well as their cartoon series. The biggest series Marvel have in pop culture history that I loved was the hulk tv show. So who is really trying to keep up with who. Yes marvel has a couple(keyword a couple) of great films but none are master pieces that people will remember. Marvel is all about quantity not quality. What are they going to do when RDJ does his last film. They do not own the license of their best characters, you know fox is not given up there license. Marvel can only go so far without the license Spidey to universe, FF universe, and x universe. Tell me what are they going to do.

Speaking of "Trilogy Curse" Avengers will basically be Iron Man 3. If you believe in the trilogy curse Avengers might suck!

"Cartoons don't count unless Im 12" LOL I like that statement it made me LOL especially coming from the person with the raiden avatar on a site called COMICBOOKMOVIE.COM Where the majority of topics are based on what exactly? Yeah thats right you guessed it comic books related stuff. Last I recall comics books and their characters are cartoons that are in book form smart a@!

The screenwriters for Green lantern are working on The Flash also. Plus Hal Jordan and Barry Allen are best friends, it would be such a waste if they didn't try to connect the movies.

Lmao I'm the dumbass? Cuz the movie is called Iron Man 3? Or is it called Avengers?

how can people forget about Real("keyword") marvel movies if there have only been two. I'm not a Marvel fanboy yea green lantern blows and i hope that the superman movie just pwns but as for the rebooted batman movies its just a man in a bat suit chasing psychopaths so stfu

DudeGuy - 4/16/2011, 9:01 PM
@ Darkmatter He was simply Tony Stark in that movie not Iron Man ;)
ThreeBig Tacos- yeah seeing as how he is going to be one of the main characters in that movie and the Iron Man franchise has basically done everything in its power to build up the the Avengers I would definatly consider the Avengers a sequel to Iron Man.
ThreeBigTacos
ThreeBigTacos - 4/16/2011, 9:05 PM
Now which is it? A sequel or a now part of a trilogy lol The Avengers is it's own trilogy just like Aliens vs. Predator are their own saga away from the old stories.
DudeGuy
DudeGuy - 4/16/2011, 9:09 PM
Again Iron Man did everything to set up to the Avengers, and seeing as how the Avengers is on the horizon it is definatly a sequel to Iron Man 2 is it not? Which would make it the third Movie Iron Man is going to appear in correct?

Geez the Hostility is tense. Lemme sit back and chill for a bit. LOL

@Weneedrevelation: The funny thing about that is Angela Bassett was a fan favorite to play Storm before Halle Berry got it. She definitely wouldve made a much more believable approach because Bassett is known for her portrayals of strong-willed woman like Storm
billthebutcher
billthebutcher - 4/16/2011, 9:11 PM
@weneedrevelation

just a quick question about storm

in the x men movies shes not used to her full potential but i never really saw her as a strong character i just saw her as someone with badass powers...how could she be used in an xmen movie to get her even remotely close to how she is in the comic books? cuz that pic of her is epic

Unless it says 'Iron Man 3' then it isn't a trilogy. Once again Avengers isn't a sequel to Iron Man. Sure Iron Man 2 leads into the Avengers, bus so does Thor and Cap and Hulk's movies. When Iron Man 3 comes out then that's the trilogy.
DudeGuy
DudeGuy - 4/16/2011, 9:20 PM
There you go. My original comment was a sarcastic joke not to be taken seriously but you made me hellbent on a mission to debate you lol.
And its "But" not "Bus"

Cap is a dude on steroids that throws a giant frizz-be at people and starks is a drunk in a iron suit so whats your point.
