Brian Austin Green Knows He's a "Tough Sell" for Green Lantern

As anyone who's been following GL casting knows, ex-90210er and star of 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles,' Brian Austin Green, wants to don the power ring. Here're the latest developments on his current crusade...

"I haven’t seen a script yet. I haven’t talked to producers but my agent and my manager have talked to producers and casting. It’s just a tough thing. I understand that I'm kind of a tough sell. I wouldn't be what somebody would normally be looking for in a film like that. I mean I don't have film draw. I haven't been in anything that has gotten people into a movie theatre. So it would be a big risk for a company to take, I get it. But at the same time, sometimes those risks are the things that seem to work and pay off the most. Instead of just going for the names that seem to be drawing people into the theatres now."

No, No, and one more time No.

When I go see the new Green Lantern movie I don't want to feel like a rejected nerd trying to be cool by watching the retired 90210 star up on the big screen.

Yeah do it. I totally didn't see Ledger as the Joker when i first heard rumors of that. Give 'em a shot! If its bad it's guraunteed to be rebooted anyway. That's kind of the thing these days anyway!

Here a idea Don't do the movie then and just give the fans what they WANT to see and that GL animated movie. Oh wait were getting it so really there no need for a live action movie unless you want to make GL look stuipd

I love the way he's basically told the powers behind this film "I really want to do this. I'd be totally sh*t, and you'd be a moron to take me on, but I want to do it".

Look, when Ledger was cast as Joker he was already an established movie star and had proven his acting chops in Brokeback Mountain, First Knight, Monsters Ball, Ned Kelly..to name but a few. This guy was in 90210 and Sarah Connor Chronicals..and he sucked in both! He has a voice like little miss muffet and i dont want him as Green frakking Lantern!

LOL yeah man Im with you....
ALthough I think Chris Pine can pull it off also...

I just dont know what kind of personality GL have...not that deep into him...but given the right script I think Brian can pull it off...

I mean i didnt see him coming off as the tugh guy on SCC so hey...
plus they can save alot of money...i bet he would do it for peanuts and a uesd chevy.

I don't know. I don't like 90210 but he might not be too bad. Try and think of him as Derek Reese instead. I don't think he does a bad job there. He did get shot in the head but I see him as Derek now. Look at Mark Paul Gosselar. Everyone knows him as Zack in Saved by the Bell but he did an outstanding job in NYPD Blue and even though I haven't seen Raising the Bar, I hear it's a decent show. So don't count him out. The only worry I would have is can he pull off a lead in a movie?

Nathan Fillion, guys. He is Hal Jordan.

Incidentally, I don't have anything against BAG, but Fillion has already nailed Hal Jordan's personality in Firefly/Serenity. He's got the build, good looks and cocksure attitude. All he needs is the damn power ring.

I think mr brian austin already gave all the reasons he should NOT be green lantern. Plus he reminds me of K-Fed or Color Me Bad or something else i hate. "I wanna sex Green Lantern up!"

This dude impresses me on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, every week. He's a solid actor. I'd also be ok with Fillion, but he's a bit old. Hal Jordan, at his start, was in his late 20's, early 30's. Thats Brian Austin Green.

I say throw the guy a f#$%in cookie, and let him cameo as Kyle Raynor or something. But Hal Jordan?! HELL NO!

FIRST OFF! KYLE RAYNOR does not need to be anywhere near or in this picture! That's years later!!! As for BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN, sounds like a great fella! I really can't see the guy as HAL though, how about GUY??? GUY GARNER??? BRIANS got the acting chops, an as long as he dont mind being a red head he would be coool for the role! Say a cameo in GREEN LANTERN then the lead to the live GUY GARDNER spin off series! Heh , can dream!!! Anyway BRIAN dude i reckon you'd be cool for GUY!!! :thumbs

I'm still pissed that the stink of that dude is still all over Megan Fox! Grrrrr. :P
Keep scrubbing, Megan! We have to get you CLEAN!

He's good in the Terminator show, but he's not THE LANTERN!

We need a "Man's Man" to play Hal Jordan.

I don't think Brian would not be good for this movie. He was ruined in that 90210 TV bomb. He is not action hero material at all. Can you say GAY! Maybe for Barbie and Ken Movie!!!!! Hahahahahahah!

Iv watched a few eps of SCC and thought it was ok..Lena Heady is great as is Summer Glau..but Green is awful, he doesnt convince me at all. And How are you supposed to take a guy seriously as an action hero when Micky Mouse has a deeper voice than him

Speaking of Micky, anyone see the ep of South Park were he kicked the shit out of a Jonas Brother? Where else would you get it im tellin ya!
SCOURGE
SCOURGE - 4/14/2009, 3:01 PM
I could maybe see him a Guy Gardner...

He is right...I would be a risk for the studio to but a has been actor in a major role like that but a lot of people felt the same way about Robert Downey Jr and Mickey Rouke too, and those both seemed to work out pretty well, but this is a Warner's/DC-related movie so I am sure they will manage to screw it up with or without him...

The Jonas Brothers had that shit coming...

Now let's get the girls to Applebee's.

And on topic, no to Brain Austin Green. This isn't a conversation we should even be having. This is how out of hand this GL casting news is getting. We're on a thread discussing Brian Austin Green, and it's not even a Megan Fox article. I'm done with the GL casting.

Although his recognizability is a problem, he'd still be better than Chris "Wierd Eyes" Pine.

He's too old. He can whine about how old Hal should be all he wants, but the fact is that he's 28 in the script.

That means no to him, and all the other grandpas like Nathan Fillion and David Borneaz who some of you fanboys want.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 4/14/2009, 7:40 PM
iconstatic: LOL! Well, without affirming any fan choices, including Austin Green, I just want to remind you and others that think like you, they are actors! They pretend to be people that are not themselves. This includes age. I think she was something like 26 when Judy Garland played Dorothy in Wizard of Oz.
TheDurkinKnight
TheDurkinKnight - 4/14/2009, 7:46 PM
I say give him a shot too! I never thought he'd be as good as he was on SCC, but he did a good job. He's not a bad actor and if it wasn't for the fact he was on 90210, people wouldn't be as opposed. I remember when Ledger got the role of Joker all the homophobes were reading into it like it was meant to make some kind of statment, hence they opposed it, but he wan a fukcing acadamy award and has created the ultimate Joker...I hope the guy gets it!
