Ryan Reynolds On Who Would Win: The Green Lantern or Deadpool !

Ryan Reynolds wisely sidesteps the question of who would win in a fight, Deadpool or The Green Lantern.

When IGN caught up with the star of Martin Campbell's The Green Lantern recently, they asked him if he chose Green Lantern over Deadpool because he thought Green Lantern would win in a fight.

I don't know, that's a good question! I don't know who would win in a fight, and that's a question I'm just not going to answer, but there was no choosing one over the other, it was just I was presented with a very special opportunity and I just jumped at it."

"I think the movie is vastly different to a lot of what's out there,"
says the 33-year-old. "Its kind of a space epic, a Star Wars for the DC universe, it feels that immense to me. There's also something that's classic about it, Green Lantern is a classic hero."

He also went on to add that he based his Hal Jordan on Han Solo.

"Green Lantern is this guy who can throw a punch tell a joke and kiss the girl. It's the kind of classic hero that I haven't seen in a long time and its something that I thought about when I was a kid I watched Indiana Jones and Star Wars and saw how [Harrison] Ford fulfilled that kind of role. The goal at least is to create that kind of action hero again, or at least that's Martin Campbell's agenda."

Hawksblueyes: Reynolds may have dodged the question but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it. Who do you think would walk away from a fight between the two?

Can't wait for this movie, looks fricking epic!

Reynolds is one of my favourite actors and after what Campbell did to 007 he's up there not too far behind Christopher Nolan.

Guys please head over to Fan Fic to chevy out my Daredevil fancast!!!

@ intruder:

I disagree. I feel like Kyle was more of a Luke Skywalker, and Hal was more like Han.
Hal's the kind of guy that's funny b/c of his cavalier attitude toward things. He knows that he's awesome and he's going to win whatever fight he's in.
Kyle's more of the artistic, new hope kind of person. Luke was essentially the torch bearer for the jedi in star wars. He was the last one left to carry on.

wow, im a geek for going that in depth about that. lol

DUH...

GREEN LANTERN would win?!?

I still don't think we need REYNOLDS for DEADPOOL, after all if we all want the real DEADPOOL we want the mashed up face version... not REYNOLDS mug!

I say get a wisecracking talented actor that don't mind his face hidden all through the movie!

Thanks guys!

I think people place too much importance on Deadpool and Wolverine's healing factors. There are many heroes and villains who could blast either one out of existence, Green Lantern happens to be one of those characters. I don't care how well you heal, if someone blasts away every last bit of your organic tissue, you're done. Ca put. Finished. Dead. Gone. See ya. Bye bye. So long. =D

GREEN LANTERN ring might even take SUPERMAN out, being one of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe an all!

I give it to Deadpool, I think it's mainly cuz I like Deadpool more than GL lol, rather than powers.

LEE I agree, the ring may be able to take down Superman, but I agree cuz even Batman(at an old age) took out Superman...TWICE, in the "THE DARK KNIGHT" graphic novels.

tea: That's where I purchased mine. But it doesn't really do everything it was advertised to. I don't think it's a real GL ring at all now that I think about it. Maybe I can still get my money back. =D
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 9/18/2010, 8:18 AM
tea: LOL, it does have a minty, fresh taste. =P

Intruder: You do have a point there. GL would try not to kill him and that could prove disasterous in the exact manner you described. If GL played around at all, he would get toasted.

How the hell would Deadpool even hit one of the most powerful superheroes in DC Comics? Hal Jordan wouldnt even need the ring to suckerpunch Deadpool to the abyss. With the ring, Deadpool would be like an ant, no less than an ant, an atom. Hal Jordan is the greatest Green Lantern, Deadpool is just a crazy mercernary. Deadpool doesnt have a chance.

As far as Batman beating Superman, you are not aloud to cite anything Frank Miller does as a source. That is like the New York Times saying, "According to Wikipedia..." Miller is clinically crazy, as interesting as his stuff may be.

thunderforce @ so true, it would kind of be a sick and kind of hilarious image of Jordan slowly pushing someone into the sun's core.

Was gonna say about the shield thing but Witty beat me to it, good man and completely true, DEADPOOL's got no chance..

Just like FOX against WB! ; D

Couldn't GL put DP in an encapsulated bubble and eventually suffocate him? I mean, DP still needs oxygen, right?
GreenGobbie171
GreenGobbie171 - 9/18/2010, 8:55 AM
Dude, I know Deadpool would lose lol, I would just root for him cuz I like him more lol.

LEE-Youre right, Deadpool is far from Batman lol

I think a fight between these two would be very close, but with GL winning, I say close cuz Deadpool does have his advantages, he would be able to get some good moves in, I'm not sure if he would be able to decapitate GL tho lol

Intruder- just read the graphic novels, frank miller may be "crazy" but he does set the fights up real well, and it is believable
fanboiii
fanboiii - 9/18/2010, 9:09 AM
Not even a matchup. Deadpool is overrated. Green Lantern could just instantly bind Deadpool's hands and feet... and mouth, then he can't use any of his weapons or gadgets.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 9/18/2010, 9:10 AM
Phinehas: GL could take him about a gazzilion different ways. My only catching point would be what Intruder pointed out. GL would be trying to take him alive. He could screw around and give DP time to find some way to kill him because we know DP is not going to stop unless one of them is dead or he has an erotic daydream. =D
GreenGobbie171
GreenGobbie171 - 9/18/2010, 9:10 AM
Tea-LMFAO nice dude xD

Intruder-well, the thing with the fight is that Bruce thinks three steps ahead, and strategically plans every move, whil superman is the guy to not think and just pound you to the ground
knowing this, bruce makes that supemans weakness, but i guess i can see where you might get aggravated lol
GreenGobbie171
GreenGobbie171 - 9/18/2010, 9:19 AM
Intruder- well, because batman led superman into traps before facing him head on, these traps weakend him, he of course was able to get kryptonite(which yes, i agree is a little out there lol) and destroy superman
Plus, superman is old in the graphic novel

@Gaston- I agree %100! I've always been a pretty big Deathstroke fan for years. He has a healing factor + pre-cog. Plus he is smarter and takes his job more seriously than Deadpool. Plus after losing all his family and taking on all heroes + training his own Titans East team, I think he is more than capable of taking down Deadpool.

Between Deadpool and GL I have no idea. GL can do so much shit to Deadpool with that ring but Deadpool is immortal so it really does no good. I figure GL can just create a bubble to trap Deadpool and close it in on him (thus crushing him) but Deadpool can simply regenerate. It's a never-ending battle but I think in the end Deadpool will overcome hal because Hal must have a limit whereas Deadpool doesn't...he's a killing machine. He's bread to kill. Plus Deathstroke has beaten Hal before because Hal was stupid and let his guard down, no doubt Deadpool can do the same.

So even though I'm no fan of Deadpool I will say this- Deadpool FTW

marvel72 - 9/18/2010, 12:10 PM
definetly deadpool, trained killer & better healing factor than wolverine.

green lantern is more powerful, but if he lost the ring.

deadpool would own him,all deadpool got to do is remove the finger .

but deadpool would piss him off so much, that the green lantern would lose his cool & start making mistakes.

deadpool the winner!

Deadpool would so paint his bullets yellow. I've never been that big of a fan of the GL comics, but for some reason I really want to see this, even over most of the Marvel stuff next year.
