Scott Porter Wants To Play 'Nova' In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Scott Porter is no stranger to the Marvel Universe after voicing 'Cyclops' in the X-Men anime series and has now put his name forward for a role in a future Marvel Studios movie, expressing interest in bringing either 'Iron Fist' or 'Nova' to the big screen!

"Marvel just announced that they're doing 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' which is another property that I love. I read it growing up," Scott Porter told MTV Splash Page in a recent interview. This isn't the first time that the actor (best known for staring in Friday Night Lights) has expressed interest in bringing one of Marvel's characters to the big screen and he went on to reveal that he has now set his sights on someone other than 'Iron Fist'. "I'd love to play Nova or another [cosmic character]."

"Gunn is a unique choice. I think he could be a really great shephard for that property," added Porter. "I think 'Guardians' is going to be a lot of fun. I think it'll be very cool. I thought the next thing I might try and go after is 'Heroes for Hire,' but it looks like 'Guardians' is around, so..."

The actor finished the interview by making it clear that he most definitely has his sights set on a superhero role at some point in the near future. "I think any kid who gets into the acting business, they have a couple of things that they always wanted to do. For me, it was like, play a war hero; play an athlete, which I've gotten to do; die a horrible death in a horror movie, which I've gotten to do; and then be a superhero. I've marked two things off the list, and I'm working on the others."

enough with the false comic love coming from the up and comers in Hollywood. These sycophants know it is all about the paycheck and not trying to bring the best to the CBM.

Marvel has been great with their hiring. They took a huge chance on RDJ and he delivered in spades. Chris Evans was equally risky but truly gave Cap gravitas. Marvel needs to look beyond these self promoters to find actors who can really give a great character and not just be the actor in a little costume.

*** a bit off topic but....I watched "The Town" again the other night and I could see how John Hamm would be a fantastic Dr. Strange. I can see him giving a slightly "above the fray" sense of arrogance without being a snob. He also has the chiseled looks for the part, and he is not an A-lister yet - perfect for Dr. Strange.

Actually he does look the part of Richard Rider. Haven't seen him in anything but as long as he acted good I wouldn't mind him as Nova. :)

BRandom IMO Chris would be better suited as Star Lord. I think he could do something really great with that character.

Don't you need some martial arts chops to be in the mix for Iron Fist?

Personally, I think Nova should get his own separate movie. Maybe introduce him in Guardians or something and then let him have his own flick. But, yeah, I'm fine with Scott Porter.

Nova is no match for Doom! Doom deserves his own solo film of World Domination before this peon.

I love Nova, but I don't want him in GotG. I think it should stay focused on Thanos and the core team.

It's funny though, I was literally reading Nova 2 minutes ago.

If they stick to the comics, and they generally tend to, he's much too old to play Nova. That character should be a much younger man. A teenager. The character is barely 24 in the comics.
