Iron Man 3 vs Man of Steel: Which Was Better???

We have "Iron Man 3" and "Man of Steel", two movies hacked to death by fanboys. Either is hated or beloved. Here is a breakdown of which is truly better. Comment your opinion as well! And remember, you may not agree, but must respect opinions.

Heroes: Iron Man vs Superman
Of course in any regular fight Superman would kill Iron Man. It is common logic. However, right now I am comparing the movie versions. In Iron Man 3, there was barely any Iron Man (a criticism, i must point out, was destroyed by The Dark Knight Rises haters). We had Tony Stark, controlling the suit from far away, and many auto-piloted suits. However, any true Iron Man fighting was thrown away. On the contrary, Kal-El was Superman for a little bit more than half the movie (although only named once). He even took care of his villain (another criticism towards Superman killing, although in the comics he does in fact kill Zod). The round goes to Superman.

Villains: Aldrich Killian vs Zod
Call him what you will, Aldrich Killian was not the Mandarin. Although he was a ruthless villain. And I half agree with the twist because for it not have happened, we would only have another Justin Hammer case. However, a fight with the Mandarin would have been cool to see, with each ring, power, and action. I would also like to add, Trevor Slattery can go [frick] himself. Zod was Zod however. He had the powers of Zod, the arrogance of Zod, the fighting ability of Zod. A suitable match for the Man of Steel. In many ways, he is more ruthless than Killian, who planed to rule the Human kind. Zod would rather commit genocide than rule the weak. Plus, his motive is a lot more cruel: he was made that way. Zod wins.

The Story:
Man of Steel was more of a Micheal Bay film with more of a plot. But, Iron Man 3's story was a bit more there. There are more plot holes in MOS, such as: why is Lois Lane everywhere? So this logically goes to Iron Man 3.

The Redhead: Pepper Potts vs Lois Lane
Both are annoying. I'll say that. Pepper is always whining, and Lois is always around. But each has a strong suit. Pepper killed the main villain, Lois discovered who Superman is. A true toss up. I say a tie. And, I might add...Amy Adams is hotter than Gwyneth Paltrow.

Money and Critical Reviews:
Iron Man 3 wins money and critically, however I don't find it truly fair. Iron Man 3, not only coming off a highly successful Avengers, but also didn't have as bad competition. One week after Man of Steel came Monsters University, a movie bound to make a boatload of money due to people waiting around for it for 10 years.

The End:
Iron Man 3 (SPOILER ALERT)ends with Tony getting the electromagnet taken out of his chest and blowing up his suits. Seems truly emotional, right? However the character of Rhodey truly undermines this ending. He doesn't need an electromagnet implanted in his chest to power his suit, so doesn't Tony's just block the shrapnel from hitting his chest? I mean, we already established that it doesn't take Tony that long to build a suit. So we know that it hasn't ended; not by a long shot. Man of Steel (SPOILER ALERT) ends after Superman kills Zod and takes a job at the Daily Planet (wearing the trademark glasses). This has a very Earth One feeling to it, which I like. It also keeps the doors open for a sequel, which I liked. Was I pissed that there was no after credits scene? HELL YES. But at least there were Easter Eggs throughout the film alluding to a DCCU. But, another point is that Superman got over Zod's death pretty quickly. Maybe there was a time jump? A few months? Maybe he knows that it had to be done? IDK, but I hope we find out.

MAN OF STEEL wins, let the fan wars begin. and remember, you may not agree , but it is my opinion.

Just watched Man of Steel. I actually liked both movies. Was Aldrich Killian the Mandarin we expected. No, he wasn't. Did the switch work within the storyline and provide an entertaining take on the character. Absolutely. MOS had changes, some of these were small, some were big, especially the ending. I absolutely don't understand where people are coming off calling this a Micheal Bay movie. All the action was explained or furthered the story. It wasn't needless. The scope of MOS was HUGE, much bigger than IM3, though the way IM3 handled PTSD and how small Tony now felt was terrific. The building of Clark/Kal-El was great, sure they didn't have a ton of time for Lois but they did build and show why he could trust her. Which was one of the major theme's of the movies. Which could he trust more, his own people, or the humans. She proved that he could take a leap of faith with them. Isn't that what relationships are all about. So that building into romantic love is not so far-fetched. Actually it is very plausible. Another complaint is that he kills Zod. He'd done so both in the movies and in comics. He generally only tries not to kill other humans. He has no other choice, which is another theme of the movie. Choice, or free will, being able to chose your own path instead of it being forced upon, or chosen for you. Plus he shows the anguish and torment he felt for his actions. Which could lead to his "no kill rule" in the future. MOS was really good and had lots of subtext in there if you look for it. IM3 was great, entertaining and had decent messages as well. One such is, what does a villain really look like, ie perception. Do the ends justify the means? I have to give this one to MOS.

i loved both films, i will say there where way to many plot holes in man of steel like louis falling despite 100s of tons of rock being pulled into the worm hole. i think iron man 3 whent a little bit overboard with the comedy. but my biggest critisism of man of steel is the end with him putting the glasses on seriously it the worst disguise ever. i mean theres no kryptonian tech that can give him a diffrent appearence by wearing some sort of face changeing mask thing. the 2 things i dont like about superman in general is the red undies wich they got rid of and the disguise.

anyway both films where great, i loved both and cant wait for a sequel to MOS.

In the redhead section i will say amy adams is hot when she wears the waistcoat. Could totally see myself hitting it from the back.

MOS was the better movie but you said it was in fair for Iron Man 3 because it was coming off the hype of the avengers.

MOS was coming off the hype of Nolan, Snyder, and just being a Superman movie.

I enjoyed MOS by a long shot but I still really, really like IM3.

I loved both movies and refuse to pick one over the other. I still don't understand why people didn't like the fact that Tony wasn't in the suit for the majority of the movie. If I were him i would've done the same thing. If I could control the suits without risking physical harm to myself I would. That doesn't make him any less Ironman, he is the only one who can remote control them. I think he would have found it convenient in Avengers when he got chopped up by helicarrier blades, flew into the belly of a alien and took a nuke to another dimension without a ticket home. Its logical character progression. He did make all the new suits with his problems from Avengers in mind.

Iron Man was a far better film. It had character development, good CGI, good acting from all the main cast, good pacing. Man of Steel had none of that but it did have an amazing score and awesome action. I would definitely want a sequel but please don't let Goyer write it.

I know I'm gonna blow your mind, but I liked em both.

And neither Pepper or Lois were annoying.

I love it when people say: "oh it's my opinion". Well obviously, but it's your choice to publish an article with the clear purpose of enforcing your opinion. I mean are you really bottled up at home, unable to express yourself? Do people make fun of you in real life for saying what's on your mind? Is that it? If so, I'm sorry - but in my opinion, you should just deal with it.

iron man 3 & man of steel both good movies both had flaws i.e mandarin twist & maybe too much comedy & shaky cam, poorly edited & some terrible writing but personally man of steel was better.

but saying that critically & financially iron man 3 was better recieved,so who is right? it just comes down to personal taste.

Seems stupid to compare these two. If you were to compare MoS with Superman Returns or IM3 with IM2 it wouldnt make you seem like someone hoping to begin a flame war. Just look, youve already attracted a few trolls from each side already.

But if I had to choose and contribute to this....thing. I preferred IM3.

Personally I enjoyed MOS more and feel it's the better film.

I always knew IM3 was going to be more successful due to reasons already mentioned, hype coming off the highest cbm ever in The Avengers, the Iron Man character is one of the if not the hottest superheros out now....and last of all .....its RDJ....The movie was gonna make bank regardless.

That being said I don't think IM3 is worth all the money it raked in, not even close as a matter of fact, but that's just me. I'm going to go ahead and say it......I actually enjoyed Iron Man 2 more than Iron Man 3!

.....yeah I said it!

MOS has higher fan ratings than IM3, although IM3 only holds a slight critic bonus when compared to MOS. So know, if by world you mean the people, the people don't agree.

Leading man:
It's getting a little old with Stark at this point. He was damn near a standup comedian in IM3
Clark was broody, but Cavill is a fresh-faced hero that felt like he could live up to being Supes for the first time since Reeve.

Action:
IM3 had a couple stand out sequences, but it was always hard to tell what was going on.
MoS delivers the most epic fist fights you will ever see in a movie. Thousands in damage and lives.

Story:
Iron Man 3 rips off the Incredibles ( thanks, CollegeHumor, lol). It also had that boy, and some infuriating turn of events.
Man of Steel was an emotional, almost coming of age tale, that continues to show that.cbms can be more than just popcorn fluff.

Universe:
IM3 effectively quits. And this comes after learning Avengers basically gave him ptsd. Mandarin doesn't exist, and it seems the series is losing its grounded charm.
MoS builds on everything. Krypton is more realized than ever, the world is reacting to the arrival of gods, and the serious tone helps make these heroes more viable.

The Red Heads.
Lois Lane is no red head, so she fails. Also Paltrow's got mad abs.

Man of Steel wins in every imaginable way

Dont get me wrong, I liked Iron Man 3, and aspects like Pepper and other supporting players, but Man of Steel satisfied me much more. The only thing I didn't like was Lois, so I may give IM3 points for the better female character, but Mos on everything else

This wasn't even close IMO, Iron Man 3 was far superior to Man of Steel in every way, hands down, period. From the story to the acting, Man of Steel isn't even close to Iron Man 3. WB needs to try a lot harder to catch Marvel.
