JUSTICE LEAGUE: New Details On Steppenwolf's Ties To Darkseid And Doomsday Possibly Revealed

There may have been reports that Steppenwolf will be Darkseid's nephew in Justice League (a major change from the source material) but a new article sheds some light on what to expect from the villain.

Not too long ago, we heard that Zack Snyder may have made some big changes to Steppenwolf's origin in Justice League by making him the nephew of Darkseid as opposed to his uncle. It makes sense that the villain would send his nephew to do his dirty work but a new story now points to things remaining faithful to the source material after all. However, that's not the only potentially major reveal here.

It appears as if Steppenwolf also has some history with Doomsday (or another version of the Kryptonian abomination; the one Lex Luthor made wasn't the first) but unlike Superman, he beat it!

"The uncle of the universe’s greatest villain, Darkseid, and a member of his elite force, Steppenwolf survived a battle with Doomsday. That should tell you just how powerful he is. Aside from his strength and near-immortality, he’s also an expert tactician and wields a vicious electro-axe that can cut through just about anything.

"Steppenwolf’s primary role is as the leader of the parademons, the storm troopers who seek to destroy in the name of Darkseid. His primary mission is to serve his nephew, and his status as the main villain in Justice League suggests the scope of the threat facing Earth, as well as the inevitable appearance of Darkseid himself.

"Irish star Ciaran Hinds plays the role in the movie, though he will appear through the use of motion-capture technology. According to the actor, in the film, Steppenwolf is old, tired, and trying desperately to get out from under his servitude to his nephew."

These details come from Hollywood Magazine so we don't know how much is fact and how much they've contributed to this character breakdown of sorts. Assuming it is correct, though, this makes for very interesting reading and points to Steppenwolf being one of the most formidable villains we've seen in a superhero movie. It also points to Superman alone not being strong enough to stop him!
