The reveal that General Swanwick is, in fact, Martian Manhunter definitely came out of the blue. Long before WarnerMedia made the decision to release the #SnyderCut on HBO Max, Zack Snyder used Vero to tease what might have been. That included a storyboard of the Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice character transforming into J'onn J'onzz after posing as Martha Kent.
Actor Harry Lennix was enlisted by Snyder to take part in last year's reshoots, and recently told ComicBook.com that he's holding out hope that Martian Manhunter could return in his own film.
"All I can say is that full justice won't be done until there's a Martian Manhunter movie [laughs]," the actor said with a laugh. "Listen up, fans! They made the Justice League happen, so..."
Lennix wouldn't reveal what he shot for the #SnyderCut, but he sounds extremely happy to have helped the director finish his vision. "If I'm in it at all, if I'm in it for 20 seconds or 10, I will be more than happy because I didn't think I was going to be in it and I certainly didn't know I was going to be Martian Manhunter until after Zack revealed it, but he always likes to surprise me."
"It was the happiest day that I never expected when I found out this was going to happen," the actor continued. "I'm looking forward to it, whatever it is. If it's a second, I'll be thrilled."
It's certainly a pretty remarkable thing, and while we've seen a live-action Martian Manhunter in Supergirl, it's going to be fun finding out how Justice League's version differs.
