Zack Snyder Shares Another JUSTICE LEAGUE Deleted Scene As The Heroes Gather Around Superman's Coffin

Justice League featured Cyborg and The Flash digging up Superman's body but a new image of a deleted scene from the movie shared by director Zack Snyder adds some other characters to the mix. Check it out!

Zack Snyder has clearly reached "IDGAF" when it comes to Justice League as the filmmaker has shared yet another photo from a deleted scene from the DC Comics adaptation. This one reveals that Aquaman and Wonder Woman were supposed to join Cyborg and The Flash at Superman's graveside after digging him up, a scene Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot described in an interview last year.

Apparently, that would have featured Aquaman offering Diana Prince a sip from his flask, an offer she would have declined. It's possible that there was even more to this scene than just that because the heroes no doubt would have had something to say about standing around Superman's coffin.

Once again, it's hard to say why Joss Whedon decided to ditch this scene but considering the fact there was quite a bit of humour in the one featuring Barry and Victor digging Clark up, there's a chance that was actually the result of reshoots. We'll probably never know but here's hoping that Snyder continues sharing even more photos like this from the divisive DC Comics adaptation in the near future.

@AsgardianHobo - Cavill is off brushing his mustache (I think that might be a sex thing, brush the stache), and Affleck... he's probably taking the picture. With Matt Damon.

Did this get any play around here? Apparently DC promoted the Justice League bluray on twitter and facebook with a Superfriends-style retro commercial, and then yanked it because (apparently) DCEU fans backlashed.

https://screenrant.com/justice-league-twitter-account-deletes-cheesy-blu-ray-promotion-fan-backlash/

So... DCEU fans actually hate DC, then?

@Spock0Clock - Because the DCEU is absolutely nowhere near having a commercial like that be acceptable. Its a full on lie lol

@Spock0Clock - Wow, that commercial seems to have been made specifically to offend hardcore DCEU fans in a similar way to how BvS has offended me. The DCEU and everything that comes with it is a peculiar beast...

Other than being there for the final battle, Superman's resurrection played no actual part in the plot, they should have taken inspiration from the finale of Superman The Animated Series "Legacy"

Begin the film with Diana and Bruce investigating a Lexcorp facility, after learning Clark's body is missing. Instead of Darkseid capturing Superman, have him be the one who resurrects him, and brainwash him, then send him to attack earth, with Steppenwolf as his second in command. Then Lois snaps him out of it, and Steppenwolf is just the final boss of the movie. Then have Superman not remember how he was brought back, and all he remembers is one word Darkseid. Setting up a sequel.

@dracula - they should have taken inspiration from [...] Superman The Animated Series

Same with Batman and the wider universe in general.

@dracula -

1) It's a better story, definitely. And it pays off the Knightmare prophecy (implying that it's the future that would have happened if Lois drown herself in a bathtub or whatever). But...

2) After the first two movies, it's actually kind of hard to make Cavill's Superman obviously "mind-controlled evil". We've already seen him waffle about doing the right thing for two movies, and we've seen him apparently intend to kill Batman because Lex Luthor told him to. We've already seen Earth attacked by Kryptonians and seen half the world predict that Superman will do so eventually. Is it really impossible to think that Darkseid couldn't have convinced him to lead the attack on Earth? And even if you could convincingly get brainwashed Superman to that place...

3) ...Do we really want to see more of that? This would be the third film in a row where Superman is being kept from being the iconic symbol of unshakable good that he is for the vast majority of people since his inception.

To me, it's a mug's game. Superman is special. When we want to deconstruct him, spoof him, parody him, or comment on him in any major way, we invent a pastiche to serve that purpose, rather that try to redefine him to suit whatever a particular worldview or story needs him to be. He is the fulcrum around which the entire genre pivots. (And that's a really interesting thing, rather than being a "difficulty" with the character, it's an asset.)

Snyder's version of Superman couldn't handle a deep plot, a series of twists, and a real emotional journey because he was a weak and shallow character anyway. If they had tried to do this sort of story (and I'm convinced it was the original idea for the part one), it would have exacerbated problems, not solved them. Justice League as a film is a mess, but it's a handbrake turn away from continuing down that terrible road of madness.

@Kyos - yeah if they want to pull off a shared universe all they need to do is look at the DCAU, not only was it better than the 90's marvel animated universe, but I would say its better than the MCU. Bruce Timm and Paul Dini should be brought in to at least consult. Just look at Justice League Unlimited's CADMUS arc, I seriously doubt they had planned to do it back when they were doing Superman The Animated Series, but it worked, they built that story on plot points and story threads from all the previous DCAU shows, even a few minor stuff from Batman The Animated Series, and hinted at things that set up things that happen in Batman Beyond.

@Spock0Clock - You make some good points, but it would be better than what we got, Superman's resurrection would have more of a reason to happen, than just we need him for the final fight. Sure it would be nice to see a full movie of comic accurate superman, but since he is dead, you cant have that since if they bring him back at the begining of the movie, then there will be even more pointless to have killed him off in the previous film. Plus doing the Legacy thing would still give us the same amount of comic accurate superman that we got in the actual movie, the final battle being the only part we got that

Kevwebsz - 3/15/2018, 5:17 AM
@dracula - They should've just used the DCAU as a template. Man they really had all the tools necessary for an AMAZING DCEU and they're screwing it up :/

@dracula - Superman’s resurrection WAS the plot. The moment that became a possibility the entire movie became about him

Out of these four characters just one actually knew Superman. "Knew" meaning "spent a few minutes in the same general area".
