Godzilla vs. Kong promises to be an action-packed delight, and regardless of whether the story is any good, we can clearly look forward to the biggest big (and small) screen battle of 2021.

Now, a new trio of posters have been released teasing that highly anticipated showdown. We get a much better look at Kong's makeshift axe, and while we're not sure where that giant piece of wood has come from, it looks like he's using one of Godzilla's dorsal fins as a weapon. Clearly, he manages to tear a chunk off his foe during an early fight, later using that against his fellow Titan.

We'll no doubt see much more over the next few weeks, including another trailer at some point.

Here's a synopsis teasing what we can expect from the movie:

Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.  Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond.  But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe.  The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

The cast of Godzilla vs. Kong includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. It's set to be released on March 31st in the U.S., though it's simply "Coming Soon" in countries where theaters remain closed (it has been dated for March 26th in a handful of locations).

Check out these new posters for the movie below:

I like Godzilla

I like King Kong

But Godzilla King Of The Monsters seriously hurt my hype. Of I didn't have HBOMax and theaters were widely open, I probably wouldn't be in much rush to see it.

Would be one of those “ill see it when I see it” kind of things

Fighting Godzilla is one thing, but forging that axe in the heart of a dying star is something else.

Man I can't wait for Taika Watiti to bring some much needed humor into the Kong franchise.

The monsterverse had more of a release strategy/plan compared to the DCEU.
First they had a Godzilla movie, then a Kong movie and finally a sequel to the Godzilla movie that sets up other monsters in the world before finally giving us Godzilla vs Kong.

@SnideCut - having a solo Batman and a second solo Superman movie before BvS could've been a good idea, but only if the vision for those characters wasn't so flawed

@bkmeijer - I agree, could have had a Trinity movie before Justice League as well.

@SnideCut - isn't that sad? DC really mucked it up by trying to play catch up with Marvel. If they took their time, mapped it out, put s leader in charge who gets the comics, they would've been in phase 2 or 3 now and people would be wearing The Atom or Booster Gold on their t-shirts and stanning the Flash on Twitter. But no, we're in an abysmal mess

@Dredd97 - maybe not an Atom shirt, but I'd definitely wear a Captain Atom shirt (I would now too, but I'd have to look in specific places to find them)

@bkmeijer - haha I was just thinking of obscure-ish characters a good cinematic universe would make into household names

@Dredd97 - gotcha. No matter what characters though, I still agree with the argument. It's a shame, because DC has so many cool characters

That axe looks weirdly edited, but otherwise cool posters

Gotta say, I'm stoked for this. The rumored hour and 45min run time has me even more anticipating this. Hopefully we finally get some good human characters as well as a great monster showdown

@Dredd97 - yeah the runtime being 1 hour 53 min makes it possible for the action to hit better

OT: Love these posters really captures how badass both Godzilla and Kong are.

Off: I never really cared for the Royals anyway.

Back to Topic: Godzilla and Kong are the only royality I need and lets not forget Mothra.
