Described as "Doctor Who meets a Fifties B-movie monster", Dreamland, a new six-part animated adventure, premieres on BBC Red Button and the Doctor Who website (bbc.co.uk/doctorwho)on Saturday November 21st.

Written by Phil Ford (Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures), Dreamland sees the TARDIS touch down in the desert in the USA. Stumbling across a mysterious alien artifact in a local diner, the Doctor is led to Area 51, also known as Dreamland.
Created in eye-catching high-definition 3-D animation, the series sees the Doctor, played by David Tennant, hook up with two new companions – Cassie (Georgia Moffett) and Jimmy (Tim Howar) – and pits him against a new alien race, the monstrous Viperox, led by Lord Azlok (David Warner).

It unfortunately won't be "legally" available out side the UK but I'm sure it won't be hard to find it on such sites as youtube and veoh the day after they air.

Heck yeah!!!

Hey aint the DOCTOR changed into another guy now??

Cool stuff @ Guardian!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 12:24 PM
Absolutely! And not like the 1960's Peter Cushing ones either.

@lee he's going to change after the last of the specials at the end of the year, or maybe during the first episode of the next series as I've seen pictures of Matt Smith wearing Tennant's suite, so it's unclear as to when he's going to change just yet.

LEE: Yeah, its happenning pretty soon - however, the new guy looks like a 15yr old emo!!! Dreadful choice IMO!

This looks pretty good though...

love that picture lee!

Matt does look a bit young, but I'll give him a chance, I mean I disliked both the 8th and 9th doctors originally but they grew on me. I loved the 8th doctor audio plays.

I'll prolly watch this animated lark even though it'll be a bit crap. :D

Yeah, I've got the BBC counter on my desktop theAnswer, the next special looks amazing!
And i didn't mind the last animated miniseries, it was a bit simplistic but then again it is aimed at little kids. However I loved the Scream of the Shakla, and funnily enough I learned recently that Tennant did some voice over work for that, and that was way before he became the doctor.

Guardian @ Tea @ ; D

Hey why is the DOCTOR (TENNAT) leaving, he ain't been in it that long has he??

JOSH @ The new DR WHO sounds really bad! : D

Hey, anyone seen that SARA JANE show???
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 12:53 PM
This will be his forth year as doctor who, which is about the average time that most actors played the Doctor. I think his main reason for leaving is he's afraid of typecasting. He's an enormously talented actor so he just wants to stretch out career wise. He did an amazing job as hamlet and he just snagged his own sitcom on nbc so I think he might just be ready to explode onto the scene. Only time will tell.

Wow I just sounded like a huge gushing fanboy...oh well

LEE: You can say that again!!! :)

emo

lol emo bangs.

I wouldn't say bad persay, he's got great writers so if the stories are good I imagine that his appearance will grow on us over time. I was personally hooping for a return to an older looking doctor but I'm willing to give him a chance.

LEEE777 - 11/5/2009, 1:05 PM

thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 1:11 PM
well he looks more like this now:

but still, yeah he's emo looking lol

yeah there are only 13 regenerations but I imagine they'll create a plot device that allows him to go on longer, I mean they already did for the Master and I've never heard any complaints there.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 11/5/2009, 1:17 PM
Sorry LEE thats is indeed the new Doctor Who, Matt Smith! Like thwhtGuardian, I'll give the guy a chance but I really dont like the thought of him as the Doctor!!!

emo2

thwhtGuardian: Wow, he's less emo looking but I still think he looks like an awful choice for the part...I mean, he looks like a nerdy maths teacher!
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 1:21 PM
lol yeah he does. But I like moffat and if he was stunned by Matt's performance I'm betting he's decent.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 1:33 PM
yeah, I mostly watched it online, but I think it was on bbc america. Also I heard that scifi had picked up the next season...and get this some episodes might be aired here first because of interruptions from world cup broadcasting.

Love the Who picture Leee777. LOL

I'm trying to be open minded about this new Doctor. It's bad enough that he has to fight off alien invaders, now Dr. Who has to worry about pimples too.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/5/2009, 2:35 PM
lol yeah, I could almost see that being a quip by the doctor.
I've heard that he's supposed to act much older than he appears and that when he does no one takes him seriously. I could see that being very interesting. I'm just glad he's not acting like a teenager.

Doctor #10 (David Tennant) will be regenerating (leaving the show) at the end of the year. As John Simm has signed on to return as the Master (powers-that-be, PLEASE don't kill off the character AGAIN!) in the 'mini-sode' series finale, I can only imagine that he has SOMETHING to do with Tennant's demise (a 'tit-for-tat', maybe?). The next season will start off fresh with Doctor #11 (Matt Smith, seen above).

The SciFi Channel was running the good Doctor up until the last season. Since then, BBC America has been running them. But, as Guardian has pointed out, if you can't wait for the delay (America usually gets them months after they've been originally broadcast), just go to YouTube. If you can stand watching an episode in 10 minute chunks, just search the tite the day after the UK broadcast (this also works for pretty much any other UK show you'd like to see - 'Torchwood', The Sarah Jane Adventures', etc). The next DW mini-sode up (again as Guardian pointed out in his previous thread) is called 'The Waters of Mars'.

I think it's kinda' interesting that Georgia Moffett has been cast as a companion in the cartoon. She's had/has a rather sorted past with 'Doctor Who'. First off, she is, or at least was (not sure about their current status) dating current Doctor David Tennant. Secondly, this isn't her first appearance in relation to the show - in addition to playing Cassie, she was also 'Jenny', the Doctor's cloned daughter in the episode (aptly named) 'The Doctor's Daughter'. And thirdly, she's the actual daughter of Peter Davison (aka Doctor #5 - anyone remember the cricket outfit?)!

MsKyle08: I think its a fair guess that this guy wont reach anywhere near Baker's standard...I know we havent seen him in the show yet but just look at him, lol! He looks like a reject from Twilight or something! :)

Guys, check out my Alpha Flight Fan Cast under "Fan Fic"!

David Tennant annoys the [frick] out of me..even that cartoon of him in the article is annoying! When he arches his eyebrows so high they are almost vertical on his head I want to smash my tv.

Christopher Eccleston is still my fav. Dr.Who. He was a great pick for the Doc, an amazing actor, very good in Heroes (1 of the few things I like about the series now-a-days). All around, a great series...
That and Billie Piper is SO HOT!!!

I liked Christoper Eccleston's Dr. Who. I was disappointed that he only had one season. Right after Tom Baker, Eccleston to me was the second best.

Hopefully, the show will do crossover episodes with Eccleston, Tennant and Smith.

And Donna (Tate) did really grow on me, she ended up being one of my favorite. I just came bring myself to put her ahead of Sarah Jane. She's the number one companion in my book.

I dunno about that cartoon... I always liked Dr. Who since I was a wee lad back in the old country, Milwaukee. It will be a shame to see Tennant go, but the doctor always changes. I would like to see Gordon Ramsey play the Dr. But he would probably not use logic and clever solutions to save the day he would just run around telling people to F-off.

dancingmonkey08 - 11/6/2009, 5:54 PM
Dudes, would you bloody give the new guy a chance. He might be an awesome Doctor and you guys are already hating on him. Actually give him a [frick]ing chance first and then when he has been the Doctor for a few episodes, then judge him. But I will agree with you on one thing, he does look like an emo. And he reminds me way too much of that faggot from Twilight! Matt better be good or I will be kicking his ass for ruining my favourite TV show!

Im so gonna miss David Tennant, he has been awesom since the start as the Doctor but in a way he was only starting to settle into the role in the last year or so!

But I am liking the Doctor's upcoming new companion though:

mmmmmmm

@dancingmonkey08 - mmmmmmm indeed. Why does America not have any hot uniforms for our women. The Uk has the police babes, the Japanese have hot schoolgirls, Germans have the bier frauleins and we have feminists... Yeah pant suits.

the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times only one regeneration left . but if I'm not mistaken Tennet did regenerate and he regenerated back to himself or did he stop the process if he didn't then he himself became the 11th Doctor and the the new Doctor is the 12th thus no more regenerations left ..... confused? Naw it's Doctor Who fellas

I have really enjoyed the new Doctor Who series. Eccleston was "fantastic". Tennet grew on me after awhile and I really hate to see him go. Have enjoyed all the companions. Loved the revamped Cybermen. This new Doctor- I don't know.... looks a little like Robert Smith from The Cure in that last photo -sorry that was a bit harsh ;)
