Guillermo Del Toro Elaborates On The Upcoming Pacific Rim 2

”I’ll tell you a couple of things. We will have Gipsy 2.0 for sure. Second thing is you’re gonna see a merging of Kaiju and Jaeger. And that is quite special.”-Guillermo Del Toro

Hey Pacific Rim fans!

Loved Pacific Rim and want more Kaiju action? Well it’s coming our way. Director Guillermo del Toro has been asked many things about a sequel and he decided to spill some beans. He confirmed that Warner Bros. has allowed he and his team to start writing a sequel, which is currently being worked on. He also said:

”I’ll tell you a couple of things. We will have Gipsy 2.0 for sure. Second thing is you’re gonna see a merging of Kaiju and Jaeger. And that is quite special.”-Guillermo Del Toro

”Just think about it for a second. We sent Gipsy to the other side, right? It exploded, but whatever remains stays there.”-Guillermo Del Toro

Well what's everyone think?

I really don't think a sequel to this is necessary. It was good and we're all really glad to see GDT back on the scene. But it kinda wrapped up. It felt nicely self-contained. I think a sequel would start to feel a little self-indulgent.
Dark Universe, on the other hand would be awesome.
Get in on the new DCCU, Del toro!

Just saw Pacific Rim today and I absolutely loved it, by far one of my favourite films this year.
(*spoiler*)
I'm just gutted that they killed off Stacker and Chuck. Kazinksy is an amazing actor and it would have been great to have seen his character develop in the sequel. I'm also gutted they destroyed Striker Eureka, but it was an awesome death to say the least.

pacific rim had a $190,000,000 budget & its grossed so far $178,582,523.

i think a sequel is wishful thinking, saw it the other day it was good but it could of been better. 3/5 great mecha vs monster action, but it did lack somethings in other aspects of the movie.

It still hasn't opened in several international territories and I'm sure DVD/Blu-Ray sales will take it well past where it needs to be for a sequel. People forget that the first Austin Powers movie did horribly at the box office but the second one exploded.

@Marvel72

We still have China and Japan to premier.

Have a feeling they will go crazy for this film.

I enjoyed Pacific Rim and I would love to see a Pacific Rim Sequel by Guillermo Del Toro. This time a 2nd Pacific Rim would definitely would make at least $200 million domestically.

Dude, PacRim was AWESOME for what it was...

People judge it WAY too harshly. The Kaiju were awesome and the fight defending Hong Kong was AMAZING!!!

My only complaint was that the FINAL battle was kindve obscured being underwater

Honestly I'd be shocked and amazed yet pleasantly surprised if Pacific Rim actually gets a sequel. Though it really doesn't need one it was very self-contained. But I'm not going to complain if we get another one.
