After Earth’s website and Facebook page have been updated with some brand new images and information about the film. This movie sure does have a lot riding on it. Can M. Night Shymalan make a comeback? Is Jaden Smith a real actor or is he just a product of nepotism? Word from early screenings of the film were for the most part satisfactory at best, but on a more positive note, the people saw it though Jaden did quite well. Keep in mind that test audiences did not see completed visual effects shots, they only could judge the movie based on a rough cut, which doesn't exactly bode well for the story.
A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
AFTER EARTH is directed by M. Night Shyamalan, and the script was written by Gary Whitta and M. Night Shyamalan. The film stars Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Zoë Kravitz. It hits theaters June 7, 2013
