First STAR WARS LGBT Character To Be Introduced In LORDS OF THE SITH Novel

Apart from a few subtle references here and there, a same sex relationship has never been explored in Star Wars canon. However, that's all set to change in the upcoming Lords of the Sith novel, as a LBBT character named Moff Mors is set to be introduced to canon. Read on for details!

In what is a pretty historic moment in the Star Wars Universe, Paul S. Kemp's upcoming Lords of the Sith novel (which is set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Rebels) will introduce the first official LBBT character into canon. Moff Mars is described as, "an Imperial who has made some very serious mistakes," but is still "an incredibly capable leader and spends much of the book working hard to prevent absolute failure." Big Shiny Robot (via IGN) adds that she "also happens to be a lesbian." Same sex relationships and LGBT characters in Star Wars canon have only ever really been alluded to in games and novels and never directly addressed.

However, the book's editor Shelly Shapiro revealed in a recent interview that the character will bring some much needed diversity to the Star Wars Universe. "This is certainly the first [LGBT] character in canon. But there was a gay Mandalorian couple, so it's not brand new. It's not something I really think about, it just makes sense. There's a lot of diversity–there should be diversity in "Star Wars." You have all these different species and it would be silly to not also recognize that there's a lot of diversity in humans. If there's any message at all, it's simply that "Star Wars" is as diverse (or more so because they have alien species) as humanity is in real life and we don't want to pretend it's not. It just felt perfectly natural." How big of a role this will play in the novel remains to be seen, but hopefully a similar level of diversity finds its way into the live-action movies too. What do you guys think of this latest Star Wars development? Sound off below!

It's about time.
Just hope this isn't portrayed in the "token gay character" sense.

This is stupid as hell. It shouldn't matter where one sticks his dick or what carpet someone munches. This agenda is really for the birds.

"LGBT" character? Was this posted by a hetero???

As someone who likes people of my same gender, I just have to say I HATE being labeled like a can of rice. Especially getting thrown into a group with people I have nothing in comon with since nor am I transgender, nor lesbian or bi. I just like dudes. Period.

Also, what's the big effing deal if a character is gay or not??? Does that make or break the character?? NO!

No big news here. Taking this as a big deal just underscores the fact that regardless of our sexual desires, we are all the same sh*t. Period.

thanos83....It's my understanding that there have been "LGBT" individuals throughout the history of mankind and will be with us forever, so, right or wrong, the only thing being forced on anyone is reality. Whether or not you like or agree with it is a personal point of view, but that doesn't change the reality of life as we know it.

If there were already LGBT characters before, like the Mandolorians they mentioned, then this article is improperly titled and overall not that important as far as news goes.

@thanos83

Yeah, being gay is an agenda by conniving evil liberals! Oh the horror! Someone likes someone of the same sex! Next thing you know you'll tell me there are people who like both sexes and/or don't like the gender they were assigned at birth! It's not like people actually are part of the queer community... Right?

Wait...

So that means every cissexual straight character in works are an agenda by fundamentalists! I got you now, evangelicals!
