Josh Trank Already Directed A STAR WARS Film: "Stabbing At Leia's"

Yesterday we found out that the Chronicle director would be helming one of the planned Star Wars spin-offs, but it turns out that won't be Trank's first trip to the galaxy far far away. Check out his amusing 2007 short after the jump. Warning, language is NSFW.

Short, but Sweet. Apparently "Stabbing At Leia's" helped Trank land the Chronicle gig, and you can definitely see the similarities. The director will next tackle Fox's Fantastic Four reboot, before moving on to the standalone Star Wars movie.

Love it.
The Stars Wars spin off will rock.

IF FOX DOESN'T INTERFERE- Fantastic Four may actually be awesome.

I kind of expected the 'stabbing' to be something else.

Josh Trank (Chronicle)

Milles Teller (The Spectacular Now)
Kate Mara (American Horror Story, House of Cards)
Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station, Chronicle)
Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer, Nymphomaniac)

now please, with "real life" and not "fanboy" logic, explain to me how this movie is gonna suck?

Why are people saying the new F4 movie is going to be so good?
Because of this cheesy video?

Because of the mediocre Chronicle movie?
Wait,I did like Chronicle soooo..maybe.

Can Trank do anything but that found footage stuff? Hope so.

@CampBlood: It's been alluded NUMEROUS times that this interpretation is influenced by "Ultimate Fantastic Four" . . . so there you go. Influence is a tricky word, but "adaptation" it is NOT, so I think everybody should just calm down. That "influence" could be just the ages of the characters, or it could be more - we'll see, but regardless these are four CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED young actors, and their creds collectively on top of Trank's are the recipe for something a majority of these fanboys aren't willing to admit.

@iFightForTheUsers

Well, I wouldn't say the movie's gonna suck. Just won't be a real FANTASTIC FOUR movie and that has most fanboys upset. Fox and Josh Trank aren't interested in doing a true adaptation - but they are using the names/characters that have a fan bases for years and that's the issue. I don't care because I choose to separate the crap Hollywood spits out from the comics I enjoyed reading while I was into them.

@iFightForTheUsers

In my opinion, anything from the "Ultimate" line is second rate to the original creation. Just an excuse to "play around with someone else's toys". Anyways, "CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED" actors (and directors) have been known to fumble. Doesn't look good when there's so much negative reaction at this point but maybe the trailer will change that around.

@ChuckV You just proved my point though. You've logically laid out why you may not be interested, but haven't trashed or dismissed the film without acknowledging it's oblivious merits.

No, having these 5 involved doesn't guarantee that the film will be good, but it DOES lean away from it automatically "sucking" and DEFINITELY negates this bullshit "bad casting" backlash. This is a "comic book movie" not a "comic book adaptation" and I think people should acknowledge that difference, and be prepared. Comic adaptations are panel to screen (Scott Pilgrim, Sin City, Ghost World) while these comic book movies (TDK trilogy, damn near every MCU film) are "influenced by the comics" but ultimately the writers do what they please with these characters or "play around with someone else's toys" as you put it, but sometimes that winds up coming out pretty epic and sometimes it's a complete failure, only time will tell with FF.
