The Rock On Playing "Anti-Hero" BLACK ADAM In DC Comics Movie SHAZAM

The latest addition of "#RockTalk" on Twitter saw Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson address his role as Black Adam in Shazam (confirming that he's still attached despite not being mentioned in that DC slate press release), and it still sounds like a pretty unique take...

It's obviously not easy to root against someone as likeable as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and that might just explain why Warner Bros. are going down the anti-hero route. The big question of course is whether or not Shazam is going to be the lead character in his own movie...either way, it's going to be a challenge to find an actor with as much charisma as the wrestler turned actor! Do you guys agree with this take on an "anti-hero" Black Adam? Be sure to share your thoughts below.

Yes, Black Adam has been portrayed as an anti-hero before the New 52.

@ComicsBornAndBred

That hasn't been confirmed to my knowledge. That's just being based off of New Line (which is part of Warner) is making it. I'm pretty sure it's connected because I believe it was Geoff Johns (or someone from Warner) who said that films not related to the superhero side of DC will get separate announcements (explaining why Sandman wasn't confirmed for a date) so that leads one to believe Shazam is a part of it.

@Batmaniac I've seen reports that days or not. That new line cinema doesn't want it connected

@DexterDouglas must seriously have a man crush on Miller..........comes up in every single post.

On topic: I get that he looks like BA, but his personality was screaming Shazam........wish they would have cast him for that instead.

Random Unknown kid as Billy Batson.
John Hamm as Captain Marvel (Shazam will never be his name to me).

i think Joe Manganiello is going to get the part for Captain Marvel. He was originally suppose to play Superman but true blood got in the way.

If he wasn't tied up doing Arrow,I would give Btandon Routh a shot at Shazam.The guy's got the looks and build,plus he can pull off being nerdy and awkward.

Agreed, they can have Dudley as Billy's legal guardian like in Young Justice, no powers required.

@Retrofit

I bet we do see a version of the Marvel family since they are very much apart of the new 52 version of Shazam.
Mary Marvel is a given because the next arms race in the CBM wars will be female superheroes.Freddy seems like a sure thing too. A superhero whose handicapped in civilian life? Thats another breaking barriers milestone.

We need more Suicide Squad news. That's the only DC film that matters, currently. Others are too early to even get excited about.

Being that I've never read anything of Shazam... The premise just seems so out there to me. A little kid who shouts the word Shazam and gets hit with lightning, turning into a Superman level superhero. It's [frick]ing whacked...

That being said, it's so out there that I have to see it. And having Dwayne Johnson be the villain is too good to pass up. Well done DC, you sucked me in.

I almost hate to even think about this movie right now because it doesn't come out for another 5 freaking years! :(
