Mickey Rourke Seemingly Not Locked In For SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

In a brief interview with Vulture at the premiere of his new movie Black November, Rourke, who played sympathetic bruiser Marv in the first Sin City, implies that he is not a dead cert to reprise the role..

Back when the long awaited Sin City sequel was officially announced, director Robert Rodriguez was quoted as confirming a few returning cast members - Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke among them. But according to Vulture, the outspoken actor "seemed to imply that his deal had not yet closed". There are no direct quotes from Rourke on that, but he does reveal that he wasn't very keen on the prosthetics used to create Marv's brutish appearance, telling the site that they "make him feel claustrophobic". But if all of that suggests that Rourke may not be looking forward to returning to Sin City, he goes on to praise the script, admitting that he actually prefers it to the first one. And finally, as far as those rumors of him coming back for a third Expendables movie go, Rourke reckons "they're making shit up".

This is what happens when you get a wash up back in the spotlight, they get cocky. Sin City is what got him back in the mainstream and made him relevant and now he's bitching about the make up prosthetics!

Jesus..

Mickey Rourke just got back into good graces with the film industry with The Wrestler and since then...he's been back to his dumb ego ways that has been getting him removed from film after film. Maybe that's the reason he got cut so much from Iron Man 2 and the character of Whiplash got wiped out.

He'll be back, he's not not "officially" locked in..or so he says.

Predators was awful.

With all those prosthetics, get anyone else.
He seems like a prick and awful to work with!

Two actors from the last film have passed away... Is this film based on a specific story arc? And do the characters portrayed by Britany Murphy and Michael Clark Duncan have major roles in that arc? This film's only just managed to claw it's way out of development hell, and now I feel it's slowly slipping back in.

I should really proof read my comments to make sure I'm finished before I post them... what I mean was, with two actors from the previous film having passed away, plus Mickey Rourke not sounding too keen on returning... it sounds like this film may be in trouble

It'd be a flashnack. Yeah both Manute and Shelly do appear in A Dame To Kill for..Manute has quite a large role so he'll prob have to be recast, unless they take a lot of liberties with the story. I think Shelly just pops up briefly though.

Really hate to see Marv and Manute recast. :(
Rourke and Duncan were absolutely perfect in those roles.

Hope Rourke signs and they get someone who can do justice for Manute like Duncan.

Rourke's portrayal of Marv was spot on IMHO. I would still see it with out him in it, but it wouldnt be the same without him as Marv.

Really doesn't sound like Rourke is all out bitching. Supposedly he wanted to remove his front teeth to play some rugby player. Besides he must really love this script if he likes it better than the first, because the first was frickin genius.
