Here a few excerpts from the somewhat brief interview with Hero Complex. While not overly revealing, the actor does drop some pretty interesting hints about his portrayal of the iconic Spider-Man villain. Be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site for more. Stay tuned for more The Amazing Spider-Man news from the San Diego Comic-Con as and when we have it.

"I’m out of the reptilian closet," Ifans said Friday afternoon while smoking a cigarette on a balcony at the Hilton Bayfront at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego. "I’m the Lizard."

The 43-year-old Welsh actor said his role as a one-armed scientist named Dr. Connors is "a dream come true."

"He’s not a bad man; far from it, he’s a great man who makes one bad decision," Ifans says. "One ethical and moral decision leads to terrible things. The science isn’t evil and the man isn’t evil. It’s one bad decision."

Ifans said addiction is among the colors his performance — the serum delivers a swooning power, and Connors finds himself pulled toward a dark place. "That gave me a lot to work with," Ifans said.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

The Lizard will probably be the only redeeming quality for this film because the rest looks like crap. The tone just seems too dark for me. Spider-Man is a friendly character he is not supposed to be dark. They call him the Friendly neighborhood Spider_man for a reason.

I grew up with the animated series so... The Lizard was my favorite villain.

Mr. Ifans' words about the character, "bad decision", is the reason I like the character so much.

Bravo, bravo.

for me...Spidey's most worthy enemy has always been The Lizard and NOT the Green Goblin or VENOM... that's why i was soooo pissed off when Avi Arad and Sony execs coerced Raimi to REPLACE Lizard with Venom as the other villain in Spider-Man 3.

and look at it now...they went back to the Lizard. Raimi shoulda stuck by his guns.
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/23/2011, 5:38 AM
Dr. Conners and The Lizard are like
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!:)

They should make him turn to the Lizard slowly! Step by step Conners looses his personality and the Lizard´s savage nature takes over! That would make the whole relationship between Parker (pupil) and Conners (Mentor) more dramatic!
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/23/2011, 5:43 AM
In the sequel i would bring Dr. Michael Morbius in and put Parker tackle against his genetic mutation which turns him into the monstrous Human-Spider.
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/23/2011, 5:46 AM
then in the third i put Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Electro, Mysterio, Kraven or Chameleon as the villain.
