SPIDER-MAN 4: Tom Holland Details Meetings With Marvel Studios; Amy Pascal Casts Doubt On Miles Morales Plans

Tom Holland has shared new details about his recent meetings with Marvel Studios, confirming that they've found a good reason to bring Spider-Man back into the MCU. Miles Morales, however, may not join him!

Tom Holland has been doing press in recent weeks to promote The Crowded Room and between that and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's release, there's been a lot of talk about Spider-Man 4

The Hollywood Reporter recently profiled the actor and Holland confirmed he's met with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, bringing "a bunch of notes and ideas" with him. Those meetings were going well but, unfortunately, came to a halt due to the WGA strike.

"It was myself, Amy, [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, [executive producer] Rachel [O’Connor], sometimes other executives from Marvel will sit in," Holland recalls. "It’s a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative."

That sounds promising, but he'd go on to confess, "I’m also a little apprehensive about it. There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises."

"I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life."

Thor: Love and Thunder is proof of that fourth film curse, but on the other hand, Avengers: Endgame was that franchise's fourth instalment and we all know how good that was.

As for the lucky kid Holland mentions, it could be Miles Morales. However, Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal cast some doubt on bringing him into the MCU alongside Peter Parker.

"They’re completely separate worlds...you never know. I would never say no to anything," she says. "But we have a lot of movies to make about Miles and a lot of movies to make about Peter. I am a movie producer. I want to keep going with this franchise with Tom."

With that in mind, we're guessing Miles won't be showing up quite yet but Pascal is right in that there are still heaps of stories to tell about Peter, especially in the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home

Here's hoping work on Spider-Man 4 resumes soon, anyway!

No Way Home might be thee single most overrated film of the last 10 years. The villain-be-gone EZ Bake Oven in Happy's apartment was unintentionally hilarious. Aunt May's death, unintentionally hilarious. Doc Strange butchering reality for this brat makes SO MUCH SENSE. I'd have stripped away the Sorcerer Supreme title from him too. Dude doesn't act like comics Strange at all. Basically any powerful character in MCU get butchered. We got dumb Strange, scared Hulk, fat alcoholic Thor. Who's next?

@McMurdo - I think the first half is pretty bad, once Goblin attacks Peter it turns into a really good film

@McMurdo - disagree. first act is a little unfocused but acts 2-3 are fantastic and some of the best Spidey material brought to screen.

Idk why he keeps talking about passing the mantle, he’d be insane to stop doing spider-man now, especially since all his recent attempts at serious work floundered
Taonrey
Taonrey - 6/14/2023, 2:54 PM
@tmp3 - he isn't going any where, he's just using this as a way to get more money. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out after S4 and the secret wars.

Also doesn't matter if his work outside of this has flopped, some actors just want to move on to other stuff.

@Taonrey - idk, i kind of feel like holland’s version of Peter was just handed an incredible set-up for a bunch more movies which could all be the best work he’s ever done in the role, so it would just be strange if he was genuinely not game for more. His recent misses outside of spidey only make his contract extension that much more obvious
Taonrey
Taonrey - 6/14/2023, 3:12 PM
@tmp3 - I mean uncharted was a hit and British actors tend to be more accepting of moving on from stuff. I honestly wouldn't be surprised either way though

@Taonrey - Maybe I'm just being greedy because NWH finally sold me on him as Spidey, so for me it'd be a shame if he decided to just end it here haha. Maybe for him it'd make sense to leave on a high note.

@tmp3 - not really took rock while before he was in serious movie some movies he was in based true stories maybe it was serious then comedy could have it backwards
DarthAlgar

@Taonrey - That's pretty common with MCU actors. Hemsworth has more misses than hits outside the MCU.

@DarthAlgar - think it’s common for actors in General, I’ll say this Chris evans,Hemsworth, Benedict, Olsen and Holland are getting a lot of work regardless of reception.

Is she dense? Miles is damn near mentioned in Homecoming

"Avengers: Endgame was that franchise's fourth instalment and we all know how good that was. "

That was the last part of a 2-parter. It doesn't count.
