And apparently the script problems weren't just about which villain to use. Raimi was championing a story line that's just plain ridiculous and extremely familiar. Here is how NY Mag described the plot of the now-dead "Spider-Man 4":

"Peter Parker gets over MJ, finds a new girl, falls in love. But: Peter also discovers her father is actually the Vulture, a naughty green guy with wings to be played by John Malkovich. Peter is torn between the love of his new lady and taking down the Vulture. Being a Spandex tight-ass, he decides to take down the Vulture, and kills him. This patricide goes down poorly with Peter’s new fiancee, and she rejects him. Despondent, Peter decides to abandon his superpowers, and Movie No. 4 ends with Peter Parker throwing away his Spider-Man mask, and audiences wondering if they are watching Superman II."

This has convinced me that reboot was the right move, the story is plain ridiculous.

All of the stories he chose were shit. He got lucky and the second one happened to be really good. In my book 1/3 doesn't make you a good director. Good riddens to bad rubbish and worse actors.

People are confused with what's the entire movie (Spiderman) are up to. Some think that the movie doesn't make any more sense to the public.To be entirely honest, I am happy that Spiderman 4 won't be happening. The first Spiderman was awful. (The only good actor IN the film was Willem Dafoe, and he was given the worst role.) The sequel was actually good, but the third film was ridiculous. (There are no dance numbers in Spiderman.) I don't think you'll find any serious people who think that Spiderman 3 was any good. So perhaps it was time for Tobey Maguire and
Sam Raimi to be given the boot – and for studios to get some payday loans or whatever financing together to find a new script and a new director.

i liked the concept of Spiderman killing the vulture but throwing away his costume at the end? He did that in SPIDERMAN 2...not SUPERMAN 2 by the way, Raimi would'nt have repeated something twice...i think this sounds a little twisted!!

I'm sorry but Raimi seemed like to big of a fan for this story to be true. I feel that once he said Vulture that was the downfall. The backlash has been at warp 10 with both the fans, and the studio. What a f**king disaster, never thought I'd live to see the day when Marvel would imitate D.C and f**k over their main character. Nice going, f**k over the people who fill your bank accounts good job wonderf**ks

Raimi would never be that lame? Watch Army of Darkness. lol Cheesy lines, and shitty CGI. I guess a the time it was a okay flick...but recently seeing it on tv again...my gawd it ages terribly.

Raimi alwasy has good ideas, but he doesnt know how to deliver them in a trilogy. Evil dead 1 and 2 awesome...spiderman 1 and 2 good...spiderman 3 piece of shit. Army of darkness...My name is bruce? lol Yeah, I wouldnt be surprised. :D If he's lost his magic touch!

give it to a real director, raimi cast that god aweful butler in the spiderman film as well i think everyone knows who im talking about. remake/reboot add the lizard,and doc ock,some more venom,and carnage and wala.

I don't find this hard to believe at all. I think 4 was doomed from the beginning. Based on the rumors and facts, this sounds legit. Therefore, I'm even more glad that Spider-Man's gettin' the old reboot. Sony, try to do it right this time (the same goes for Ghost Rider).

you do realize that Army of Darkness is SUPPOSED to be cheesy and campy, right?? the cheesy lines were written like that on purpose. lol it was a B-list horror movie even when it was new. and to complain about the CGI is laughable, that movie came out in the early 90's, what do you expect??
