1. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies never captured the true character that is Spider-Man. I did enjoy the first two Spider-Man movies(and some parts of the third),and even didn't mind Tobey as Peter. But The characters were not a whole lot like their comic book versions.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man: Tobey's Peter is perfect in my eyes. I have no complaints. But his Spider-Man even before the third movie was a whiny mopey cry baby. Sure in the comics Peter gets very depressed--in fact it happens often. But when the whining takes over completely for his witty wise ass attitude it's just too much. Spider-Man is notorious for almost always bringing fresh puns and wise comments to the fight.
MJ: She is my biggest complaint. In fact, she was way too much like her ultimate version, a worried whiny bitch. We already had one of those in these movies. In the comics MJ is the wild child that is completely opposite to Peter's first love, Gwen Stacey. But in the movies it was all complaining. We didn't even get to hear a 'hey, tiger, you just hit the jackpot.'
Doctor Octopus: In the comics he has no regret. He never is a good guy deep down.
Sandman: same problem as Doc Ock
Venom: Venom is always the tough threat to puny Parker's Spider-Man. I think they just made a terrible casting decision going with 'Eric Forman.'
Also I could go on, but I am just too lazy
2. Another chance to make the movies closer to the comics. Do you the people complaining about this reboot not realize that any complaints you have could be fixed? They could make a faithful adaption that could bury the past films.
3. A better actor. Now I do like Tobey as an actor, but Andrew Garfield is amazing. I watched his movies once he was cast, and this guy blew me away. The guy will easily outdo Tobey. This guy should have all of our support. I kid you not he is amazing. Now at first I didn't think anybody Mark Webb had in mind could pull off the role(I was being biased because I wanted it). I wasn't even sure if Garfield could pull it off, until I watched "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" and "Boy A"(a movie he won an award for).
4. This reboot is for Twilight fans. This movie is gonna be Spider-Man 90210. Okay, so anyone using those excuses leave a comment so I can hear your reasoning. I mean when did anybody say yeah Spider-Man is gonna sparkle. I haven't seen "Twilight," and I know damn well it doesn't take place in a high school--so that couldn't have been your reasoning. And does Peter Parker ever have emotional problems or problems not related to his being Spider-Man? YES! Just because this deals with his struggle of leading two lives does not mean it's gonna be some crap 90210 style movie.
5. This is gonna be Spider-Man meets "High School The Musical?" No no no no no. Out of all the excuses this is the dumbest. For those of you that do not know Peter Parker spent at least 20 years worth of comics in high school. People complained about this being a mistake and also wanted it to follow Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Well news flash, folks, guess where Spider-Man was during those days...HIGH SCHOOL. And then there is the Ultimate comics which still have a teenage Peter Parker in high school. Now I know there will be comments saying the Ultimates suck. Have you read "Amazing Spider-Man" in the past few years? Since the 'Brand New Day' storyline, I have read every issue and let me tell you the Ultimate has been 1000 times better. "Amazing Spider-Man" is just now redeeming itself for almost two years straight of bad issues. The Ultimate is easily the way to go and high school was easily the better years for Spider-Man.
