ThinkMcflyThink.com is reporting (by way of a tweet) that the up coming reboot of Superman called 'Man of Steel' will include The Fortress Of Solitude. Filming is set to commence in Vancouver with the building of the Fortress itself at the Vancouver Film Studios, where the rest of the movie will be filmed along with locations in Chicago.

What do you guys think? Want to see the Fortress or not? Want to keep the "Crystal design" or somthing different like All-Star Superman? Or the South America Fortress?

'Man Of Steel' stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Diane Lane, Kevin Coster, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon as General Zod.

i always thought the crystal fortress looked stupid in live action

@GrandWrex- THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one who got tired of the crystal fortress thing. It seemed appropriate i suppose for the 80's...but not for today or even 90's.

This new FOS must be totally different and reimagined. I don't wanna see another damn crystal in this film. We've had crystals in every single Superman film and even Smallville. In "Superman Returns" the crystals were the main plot device of that shitty film. NO MORE CRYSTALS!!!

no, thank you its glad to know that someone else feels the same

and when i first saw superman returns i could not believe that they used it as the main plot device, i was pretty mad...like they couldn't have thought of anything better to use than a crystal

I'd like for it to stay at the northern location but drop the crystal tech.

Knowing Snyder, the Fortress of Solitude will be made out of katanas and M-16's. There will also be 20 something year olds running around in lingerie, ready to lick Superman's toes at any time he demands it be done.

If the fortress is anything like the picture above, it will be amazing I'm sure.

@ Illuminatus - LOL! Yeah, probably something like that.

I've got a feeling it won't be all that different. It'll have to blend in to all that snow and ice. A fortress that looks like something from the planet Coruscant in the middle of the arctic circle would stick out like a sore thumb and Superman might aswell have it next door to the Daily Planet. It'll still be crystaline, albeit in an updated form.

I guess I'm the odd man out here. I always loved the crystalline fortress. Since its been used so often, to me, it has definitely become the definitive look for Krypton and its structure. Just my opinion tho.

It would be obvious that Superman would get a new re-imagined fortress, especially if Krypton's redesigned (which I agree is a welcome change) Chances are it will still be in the arctic, but maybe more like a hidden underground and restructured ice cave with futuristic Kryptonian tech (that will hopefully not be crystal based).

I wish other directors would take Snyder's approach to titles. Then next year we could watch Avengers, Dark Knight Rises and Hobbit without having to bother with all those pesky "the's".

@grandRex I can see your an old school like me. I felt the same way when I saw the movie in the theater. I was expecting the see the Fotres of solitude from the comics but was disappointed with the Crystal thing.

@beetheb your avatar is hot

Gotta have a new style of fortress. He should have a two bedroom with just a bed and a couch, a tv and a ps3; oh wait, that was my place.

I quite liked the fortress in the Superman: Animated series....it was built into the rock and ice and had a very technological look but as there was ice on the walls still look earthly but alien at the same time...

@maia87~ The crystals haven't ALWAYS been a part of Superman's "mythology." The idea of the crystals and Krypton's crystalline structure was created for SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE back in 1978. Before that, Krypton had always been represented as a full-on bright colored futuristic alien world, with all the technology, strange animals and brightly colored garb that one would expect from a sci-fi story.

Superman should find an old Nuclear fallout shelter and turn that into
his fortress. That would be baaadd asss.

if it has any detail it should be as huge as this

Crystal is very important to the kryptonian mytho, but that doesn't mean the whole god-damned fortress needs to be made of it. Just a nice crystal chandelier will work fine.maybe a crystal swan as an accent piece. how about a budwieser girl poster, even better, a wonder woman poster. that would be more "realistic".

@valeriesghost....i agree that the crystals have been an important part of the mythos....crystals need to stay to some degree. I would like to see the fortress stay in the northern region....but perhaps more like the ALL STAR version..with the crystal console inside where he learns communicates with his past. I dont think it needs to go ALL out on ALL STAR with computers and robots....i never liked that degree of technology....Kryptonian tech is way beyond buttons and PCs. Stick with the hologram effect.

ALso i would like to see where Superman resides when hes in the city. It one of the only elements i enjoyed in Superman 4.

I hope they make a set, I would hate a cgi version like SR. It looked as fake as stripper boobs. Even the original movies have a better fortress

Naterator, hopefully it will be 344 Clinton Street, Apt. B in Metropolis and NOT the daily commute from Smallville. I never could wrap my brain around that one.

It´s bizarre to hear a 14 year old abuse of the world "Modern". :P

The crystals are ALREADY the modern version. Before that, it was an arrogant door with giant key.

nah what he means by modern is the physical appearence itself

I'm happy with this! I always thought why is it that Batman has this super high tech cave and Superman gets this crap ice sculpture when he came from a more superior race.

Totally over the crystals, though I do feel that the Fortress of Solitude is too big a part of the Superman mythos to ignore. All Star Superman is definitely the way to go. I could do without the robots though.
