THE FLASH Confirmed To Feature MAN OF STEEL Stars Michael Shannon (General Zod) And Antje Traue (Faora-Ul)

With the DCEU likely to have been rebooted by the time the credits roll on The Flash, news has broken that Man of Steel's villains, General Zod and Antje Traue, will appear. Could it be Supergirl-related?

The Flash TV series was one of the first live-action comic book adaptations to explore the concept of the Multiverse, but The Flash movie now looks set to expand on that in a big way. If the recent news that Michael Keaton will play Batman in Batgirl is any indication, a new DC Extended Universe will be created by the time all is said and done, helping Warner Bros. to move on from the "SnyderVerse."

There have been rumours about The Flash featuring some big cameos, but two more have now been revealed courtesy of Warner Bros.' UK website.

In an official cast list for Andy Muschietti's DC Comics adaptation, it's confirmed that Michael Shannon and Antje Traue will appear in the movie. You'll no doubt remember them as General Zod and Faora-Ul in 2013's Man of Steel, and it's safe to assume they'll somehow factor into the origin story of Sasha Calle's Supergirl.

With no sign of Henry Cavill being brought back as Superman and multiple projects revolving around the character in the works without him, this new world will likely replace Superman with Supergirl. That probably means we can expect Zod and Faora to be retconned into the Girl of Steel's origin story somehow, though it's also possible time-travel will take us back to the events of Man of Steel.

A brief new synopsis for The Flash has also been revealed, though it doesn't shed a whole lot of light on what to expect: "Ezra Miller stars as Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, who pushes the limits of his superpowers in the DC Super Hero's first-ever standalone feature film."

The Flash races into theaters on November 4, 2022.

I remained eternally confused by DC/WB’s movie efforts.

So no more Superman. Marvel hasn't disrespected an A-tier superhero to the level DC has done Superman. Instead the go and make another dark Batman film ( since we've never seen that before ) ffs

@SnideCut - Hulk?

@SnideCut - apparently all dark batman movies are exactly the same. Yeah, when I watch batman returns it just reminds me so much about the dark knight./s

@MadMallo - a few things to consider there. First, TIH barely made more than Hulk, showing that people were very little interested, especially when compared to Iron Man. Cap and Thor followed and let’s face it, back then, all 3 of those were considered B tier, compared to who idk, maybe Spider-Man and X-men. And hulk. Who made the lowest and stated the lowest, tho after inflation, Eternals has taken that crown. (I enjoy TIH, I’m trying not to make this about me)

Then there’s the recasting. Marvel said he’s hard to get along with, Norton said he was surprised, you just never know who to believe. Recasting merits are in the eye of the beholder, but they didn’t otherwise reboot him and we even still have Ross.

Then there’s the rights issue which is why there have been no more solo films, that’s def not Feige’s and company’s fault. I imagine they’re would’ve been at least one by now.

Finally there’s his storyline thus far. Solo, Avenger, loves Nat, bro hulk, bodied by Thanos, scared, smart hulk, burnt arm, back to Banner still with burnt arm. If you like it you like it, if you don’t you don’t. I sense that many here don’t. I honestly don’t know what’s not to like. It’s a matter of taste. Anyway, we’ll see him again soon on She Hulk. And let’s not forget something we all loved: Science Bros.

I don’t suppose I want to get into everything regarding Cavill, in terms of our opinions, it’s been beaten after its death enough, but just to touch on box office… I’m BAFFLED that they would like at little flops and stop the train. To me a little flop is the opposite of a big flop. Like Hulk and TIH. But the thing is, MoS, BVS, and JL may have been unfairly expected to make closer to, up to, and way over a billion. So they made money but not enough and JL was less than both predecessors, diminishing returns. They probably look at at RT too. Yet Harley Quinn keeps coming back haha I can’t explain it. But there’s no rights issue. Just the court of public opinion😁and in mine, finally, marvel has treated hulk way better than DC has treated Superman.

@MadMallo - Hulk? GTFOH with that trite crap. Without having its rights Marvel at least ATTEMPTED to give the public every form of Hulk it could. Banner on the run, Extreme hulk, WWHulk, Professor Hulk...Could they do more? maybe but look at what DC did with Superman.....Moody superman. Boom, thats it. Find a new trope.

@MadMallo - there has been nothing disrespectful of the way Marvel has treated the Hulk. If anything, they gave us Savage Hulk, Early Hulk and Professor Hulk. He didn't get his own movie because of Universal. None of that is disrespectful.

@Origame - Batman returns is more a Tim Burton movie than a Batman movie and as far as darkness is concerned, it really isn't all that dark.
Origame
Origame - 12/23/2021, 1:34 PM
@SnideCut - the dude was actively trying to drown children. Of course it was dark. And no, I'm not letting you get off the hook with "it's more a Burton movie". All the batman movies have been driven by very distinct film makers. By that logic, the dark knight is more of a Nolan film and bvs is more of a Snyder film.

This excites me a lot more than more Keaton in the DCEU.

Funny thing is... we get General Zod, who is dead... but no Cavill, whose character is the main hero of ALL comics and should be so in the movies.

Anyway, I hope Faora kicks Kara's butt.

@UXASIS - Doesn't look like it's Kara. Also, they will probably make Zod and Faora her parents.

Imagine if NWH ended by setting up a movie where Tobey Maguire replaces Andrew Garfield in the TASM universe mentoring a teenage Spider-Girl played by a 30 year old black woman (possibly adopted) and that Marvel insisted this was now the main MCU and Tom Hollands movies were 'stand-alone' and didn't count.

Hope The Flash does something similar.

Instead of using the Flashpoint to reboot things with Pattinson and Momoa in the same universe or something sensible like that. Nah, Hamada would never let that happen.
