THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Concept Art Reveals Awesome AVENGERS: ENDGAME-Inspired Take On Thor's Armor

In Thor: Love and Thunder, the God of Thunder donned colourful battle armour inspired by Walter Simonson and Sal Buscema's comic book work. However, this alternate design takes a different approach...

Devastated by his inability to stop Thanos from wiping out half of all life in existence in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame kicked off with Thor beheading the Mad Titan after learning he'd destroyed the Infinity Stones.

Five years later, we saw that the God of Thunder had let himself go in a big way and it wasn't until he was reunited with his mother in the past that the hero got his groove back. When a Variant of Thanos arrived on Earth, Thor suited up as a badass Viking to take the fight to the Avengers' deadliest foe.

Now, some newly revealed concept art shows just how different the Asgardian could have looked in the wake of that battle. Boasting shorter hair and unique white armour, early plans called for Thor to don an Avengers: Endgame-inspired suit in last year's Thor: Love and Thunder.

"Character design for Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. Keeping [Chris Hemsworth's] likeness and working on a casual outfit," artist Aleksi Briclot explains. "Not the big epic and colorful armor in this case. Something with some zen vibes."

"I was working from the armor he was wearing in Avengers: Endgame, getting from black to white (following the character evolution in the story, it’s another new step in his path) and I was also referring the scales on the torso of Captain America."

It's a cool design with a lot of depth and one which arguably works better than the snazzy blue and gold number Thor donned in an effort to not be overshadowed by Jane Foster's Mighty Thor!

Check out this new Thor: Love and Thunder design in the Instagram post below.

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

That is so much better than the blue and gold suit. Wonder what the helmet would've looked like with this design. Couldn't be worse than the blue and gold one

I can imagine the first part of Thor 5 being something along the lines of Valkyrie having to find Thor after something’s gone wrong in Asgard and him being introduced in this costume to kind of show he’s entered a new stage as a character after his arc was kinda tied off in Thor 4. For what exactly is going wrong there’s a couple places 5 could go. We could do the Hercules stuff or alternatively we could capitalize on the more xenophobic world set up by the end of Secret Invasion and adapt Siege with Dario Agger in the place of Norman Osborn. You could even include some human Thor villains like The Wrecking Crew to be the stand ins for the Dark Avengers in this adaptation

With most of the main cast leaving, Thor's like that old guy who still hangs out at the club.

That soccer movie was ass, there's no doubt he lost his magic. Or maybe he got lucky all along. Long gone are the days of Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, good grief. And to think this clown almost directed an Akira movie lmao

Waititi saw that and said "make it more colorful"

The costume designers asked "how much"

To which waititi answered "yes"

This big pile of steamy dogshit, started the beginning of the end for all comic book movies, DC and Marvel. Love was made up, not canon, goats, screwed up, the slapstick, nonstop jokes, powerangers, xena, 3 stooges parody, destroyed Thor, wasted gorr and jane, sif and started the descent of fans rejecting dogshit comic movies. @taika gets all the credit and feige for letting him do it.listen to fans, stay in canon. Echo and Agatha need to be dumped and they need to get back to the serious tone of Winter soldier.

@cubichy - I agree with you mostly, except that echo looks like it is going to be the closest in tone to Winter soldier since winter soldier. 🤔

This is awful. It's nothing like the comic-book Thor.

So, in short, would've been perfect for this movie.

Looks good. A clear nod to the Simonson armor, which of course is why they had to f it up.

Taika Waititi was the worst thing to happen to this character in the MCU. And I mean that for Ragnarok, too. Difficult to come back from Endgame Thor and L&T Thor.

I like the armor but that weird mix of blonde and grey for Thor's hair isn't working for me. A not necessary change IMO.
