that was sweet. even if the story isnt spot-on the same, visually it seems to be a perfect match.

No offense Quagmire, but you can't really expect an exact replica of the book, honestly when has that ever happened? Somethings just don't translate well into film, and this is Zach's representation of it. I love the graphic novel, and read it a dozen times, but I don't expect to see, verbatim, what was in the book on screen. What I have seen from the film is that he is taking great care into making this book work on film, and I hope to see some differences, it's nice to have a surprise, even with something you're more than familiar with.

Also, you're completely entitled to your opinion, but no need to disrespect someone's post just because you don't agree with it.

From what I have seen in the trailers looks really good. I am still a little disappointed in the whole squid thing. But that's Hollywood. Just glad there's no sequel. If this movie is as good as I hope it will be then it should be hard to beat for the other comic book film makers.

quagmire14...you are completely entitled to your opinion...but why is it that no matter what comic book movie board i see you on...you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have something negative to say. The only thing i agree w/ you on is that they need the squid/alien.

I've noticed that your "standards" keep you closed minded towards the movie.

sure all we have is the power of the ticket, but that doesn't mean we can't look at the good qualities of a movie.

You nit pick at every little thing. You're always so pessimistic about comic book adaptations.

Of course the company is in it to make money. they need the money so they can make more movies.

as for the part about "Some of you guys desperately need to see a "form" of your favourite comics on the big screen and you don't care how badly they hack it up"

that's not completely true. I don't know about anyone else, but no matter how shitty the movie i go to see is, i tend to look at the most positive parts, be it characterization, set design, special effects, music...just something that stands out and makes all the crappy aspects of the movie null and i admire that one thing that made the movie great. The only movie i couldn't really do that on was Batman & Robin...actually i take that back...it had 2 good things...Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone.

Just relax. Keep your standards...but don't set them too high, or you'll just set yourself up for disappointment..keep them low, that way, if it does better than your standards, you can say "That was better than expected"

ok, sorry for attacking your personality. and i agree watchmen is an awesome graphic novel. but just because you've seen horrible comic movies before doesn't mean that this one will be. You haven't seen it yet, so it just might turn out to be that timeless masterpiece.

I am not a mindless movie goer, but i am looking into film school and to make this movie as close to the graphic novel as it is already takes A WHOLE LOT of effort.

Yes, Zack Snyder may not have done great at the zombie movie thing, but 300 was also based off of a graphic novel, so blame the writer, not the director. Besides. Snyder didn't write the script to 300 OR Watchmen, he's merely working w/ what was given to him.

as for all of your examples. all of them i agree w/ except for transformers (seeing as it wasn't a comic movie to begin w/. They merely wrapped a story around a toy franchise, and did a hell of a lot better than anyone could have imagined a movie based on action figures would do (and i'm guessing it's going to totally blow G.I. joe out of the water).

But like i said, maybe this will be the masterpiece...if not...f(_)ck 'em. they messed up BIG time...their profits go down...fans are mad, protests...but that's it....it'll all be forgotten in a few years.

but if it succeeds it may go on to be more memorable than Titanic.

I'm looking forward to this a lot, and i personally think it's going to be awesome...but if it isn't, i'll be the first to say so.

It's just a movie, albeit one based off of one of the greatest works of art/literature of our time, but still, a movie none the less.

No need for us to get THIS upset about it.
