Last Night's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Introduced Comic Accurate Blue S.H.I.E.L.D. Uniforms

Last night's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. took fans back to the 1970s, and that meant we got to see the comic accurate blue S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms in what was sure to be a fan-pleasing moment!

The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been taking viewers on a trip through time, with this week's episode set in the 1970s. During their time in that period, Agent Coulson and his team learned more about HYDRA's plans for Project Insight, including the villainous organization's plans to assassinate a young Bruce Banner.

However, that wasn't the only Easter Egg for fans in "A Trout in the Milk" yesterday evening.

In order to infiltrate the Lighthouse, Coulson and Agent May donned era-appropriate S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms which were identical to the versions seen in the comic books from that period.

Nick Fury actually wore that suit well into his appearances during the 2000s, and while the Marvel Cinematic Universe gave S.H.I.E.L.D agents black uniforms similar to what had become popularized in the comic books by that point, it's pretty staggering to get to see these in live-action for the first time!

It's still unclear whether Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will reference the events of Avengers: Endgame or if the plan is to leave the team in a new timeline created by their trip through the MCU's history.

They didn't look as badass as in the comics. They made them look more like mechanics.

@NewAtrocitus3 - thankfully punctuation does not bother anyone when you understand what he is getting at. Unless you are an English teacher and grading people online what does it matter?

They didn’t look particularly good. Thought they could’ve done a little better.

The lack of white gloves/boots on SHIELD agents in the MCU has always been strange to me

They weren't meant to be identical to the SHIELD comic uniforms, just a nod mixed in with the henchmen in jumpsuits trope. This would make sense to anyone who watched the episode as Coulson even made a throwaway comment about it.

@Zer0squad - They weren't meant to be identical to the SHIELD comic uniforms

None of the cape movies or shows are meant to be identical, but all the kvetching over "comic accuracy" has turned the phrase into an easy to exploit buzzphrase for marketing.

@Reeds2Much - I wasn't commenting on the success of the attempt, just the intention behind it as people are so quick to comment about accuracy.

Man why even use the word identical that was so unnecessary here.

Question for anyone that can remember, wasn't Gemma already pregnant when she found out Deke was her grandson? I remember her throwing up as they both connected the dots alluding to the pregnancy, or did she just throw up because Deke is her relative?

Deke said they had to get Fitz and Gemma to [frick] to make a baby meaning she isn't.

Um... not to beat a dead horse or anything, but... these are not comic-book accurate. This article should have been written about the fact that they made a garbage attempt to imitate the comics. Coulson looks like he's wearing his much taller brother's mechanic uniform.

I'm convinced more and more every time I come to this site that the percentage of people who have actually read a comic book is not very high.

They looked like factory workers rather than an undercover paramilitary organization.
