Ahsoka Tano's Appearance In THE MANDALORIAN Leads To Increase THE CLONE WARS Viewership On Disney+

Rosario Dawson debuted as a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian last week, and that's led to an increase in viewership for The Clone Wars on Disney+ as fans delve into the Jedi's past!

The latest episode of The Mandalorian introduced Star Wars fans to a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano, and with the character's past rooted in shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, it's no wonder interest in the former has increased massively since last Friday.

The Verge reports that Rosario Dawson's debut as the fan-favorite Jedi has led to The Clone Wars seeing a massive spike in interest; the same happened last year when The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+, and again when the seventh and final season of the animated series aired.

This time, it's Ahsoka Tano who is driving viewers to the series, and it's now four times more popular than it was the same time a year ago. It's not clear how much of a spike Rebels has seen, but after that big Grand Admiral Thrawn Easter Egg, it's likely fans are going back to learn what they can about the villain and what his possible live-action debut might mean for The Mandalorian.

Ahsoka is sure to return to the show at some point, but there's still lots to discover about her origin story. Plus, with Dave Filoni hinting that her final scene in Rebels came after what we saw last week, it should be worth another watch.

Cool.

Season 4 Episode 7-10 Umbara
Season 5 Episode 17-20 The Fugitive
Season 6 Episode 1-4 Orders
Season 7 Episode 9-12 The Siege of Mandalore

Those would be the episodes of Clone Wars for me that everyone needs to see, if nothing else.

I'm seriously considering giving it a(nother) try. Also I might have bought Fallen Order. Haven't been this interested in (canon) Star Wars in a while.

It makes sense. People who have watched before reminiscing to the point of rewatching, but then it also gives first time viewers a reason to check it out. Big thing is this should lead to more tie in characters getting some love. I hope this not only happens in the star wars show but the Marvel shows too.

Just got a month's trial with Disney+. Think I can binge Clone Wars and Rebels by New Years?

@redtom - I did that this summer and only got around to the Clone Wars and only a handful of Rebels episodes.

You can always skip the Jar Jar and droid episodes in TCW though, because those don't really amount to the story in my opinion.

@redtom - It took about a month for me to binge both, and I cut out filler and only watch what I considered essential from both shows

Neat, wasn't a huge fan of either CW or Rebels but that might be down to the animation style that always struck me as meh.
However I saw both through the end and am glad it's getting more exposure.

Some more SW shows I'd like to see:

- Ashoka & Bo-Katan team up to take down Thrawn (treating both episodes as backdoor pilots)
- Boba Fett and Cobb Vanth in a western inspired tale on Tatooine (probably just calling it "Tattooine" like a Deadwood in space).
- Luke & Lando on solo adventures in the galaxy (with Sebastian Stan & Donald Glover in the roles)
- Darth Vader solo slasher series where he mows down Jedis on the run. McDiarmid can cameo a few times.

@Blergh - A Darth Vader show would be a dream. Other shows I'd like to see are one focusing on the criminal underworld between ROTS and ANH, with Han, Boba, Maul and Vader appearances

@bkmeijer - loving that idea as well! That could be a neat adaption of Lucas' original idea of that Underworld show

@Blergh - my thoughts exactly. I think it could work as an open-world game as well. And ofcourse Lando also needs to be in it

It’s an anthology series with some misses but for the most part Clone Wars is great and really hits its stride in season 2. It has some of the best Star Wars since the original trilogy.

I'm glad I watched the Clone Wars again this year, because it really has some pretty high highs (I'm ignoring the low lows). Hoping The Mandalorian doesn't start to lean to much toward The Clone Wars and Rebels content though.

Reason for me to share my 10 favorite episodes/arcs too (in no particular order).

1. Siege of Mandalore
2. Saleucami
3. Domino Squad
4. Ahsoka Framed
5. Shadow Collective
6. Umbara
7. Supply Lines
8. Bounty Hunters
9. Order 66
10. Ryloth or Geonosis

Hopefully the increased attention motivates Disney+ to finally put the episodes of The Clone Wars in chronological order. The last thing they want is for newcomers interested in catching up to get confused and frustrated. Asking normies to refer to an episode order guide to enjoy the show isn't the most user friendly.

I watched the whole clone wars series prior to the new season and enjoyed it. Just started rebels a couple weeks back and I'm already on season 3. I think I like rebels more but overall very impressed with these TV shows I knew nothing about. Big fan of Kanan Jarrus who I didn't even know of before.

I'm a big fan and cheerleader of The Clone Wars, so this makes me happy. It's legitimately one of my favorite TV series ever, so I'm hopeful that more people will give it the chance it deserves to discover what's great about it.

For the newbies, don't be put off by the early stuff. That's not representative of the greatness that fans rave about. It gets much better. If you're committed to watching the whole thing, use the chronological episode order, since the early part of the series is a bit jumbled.

If you're trying it out and might quit if it doesn't grab you quickly enough, I highly recommend using a curated list that cuts out the filler and weaker episodes for a more focused experience. I made one recently that I believe hits a nice balance between trimming the fat and leaving enough to appreciate how the main arcs build over time.
