According to Crystal Dynamics, this latest Tomb Raider title will be more of a survival horror title and will represent an origin story for the Tomb Raider character. Lara will begin the game as a young woman setting out on an expedition aboard the ship Endurance, but gets ship-wrecked on a strange island with hostile inhabitants.

Tomb Raider is expected to be released sometime during the Fall of 2012.

This looks brilliant!!! Loving the animation for game trailers recently! Makes me want DC or Marvel to make a whole animated movie in this style!

Is this a complete reboot?

I have been very intrigued about this game for a while now and excited by the focus becoming more about her pain, her survival, where you believe she is a real person who might get hurt, rather than some invulnerable perfect, clean and 2D character. Her motivations to survive forcing her to explore is much more interesting, to me anyway, than just adventuring in tombs for the sake of it, and the game looks really good from the visual style to the serious realistic tone and all of the gameplay stuff I have read seems cool BUT I must agree with Griff that if that is how she talks in the game it may undermine the whole experince. She sounded good and emotional in the action segment (the groaning and screaming did not feel mechanical) but the narration sounded as griff put it 'like a tired robot' ... not very engaging at all. Fingers crossed she doesn't narrate like that in the game.

The animation is superb & Lara's beautiful in this.

I'd definitely slide her a few inches. :D

So, less tomb raiding, and more uncharted/lost ?

I wasn't a fan of the old tomb raider games. To be fair I had only played the demos, but hopefully this will be more fun.

Definitely feeling the look of the trailer!

TheHulk63: The original Tomb Raiders were fun, if you´re focused and determined.

It kind of looks like a rip-off of Uncharted.

Why would one call this game like Uncharted? Uncharted's Drake rides into danger with an intent. This Tomb Raider game doesn't; the problem rides into Lara, instead, so comparing them at such an early stage based off a trailer with no gameplay is kind of silly.

On the other hand, the trailer looked fantastic. They really outdid themselves. That's how you know effort was present. I look forward to getting my hands on this.

Looks good -- if it controls as solidly and smoothly as Uncharted then sign me up.

I liked "Tomb Raider:Angel of darkness" a lot. Loved the soundtrack, the scenery, the plot.

My only complaint would be the warehouse level, the need to "feel stronger" in order to push the crates was really unnecessary.

Looks really good. I like the more athletic and realistic look for her.

This feels like it should have been the start of the new film franchise. But otherwise, Very Impressive!

beautiful trailer. The lines are bad, but what the hell. This is a game.

*Blah blah blah what does have to do with comic book movies!?! blah blah blah* (sarcasm) Anyways, I am kind of skeptical of this for one reason: Uncharted. I only played the tomb raider games a few times, but they are kind of dated now. Uncharted seems to be the new Tomb Raider. I just want to know what this game will offer that will set it apart from the other games in this genre (Uncharted, Prince of Persia to a degree, Enslaved). Still, it could be good.

Since she doesn't have gigantic tits anymore, I pick Ashley Greene for Lara

Yes, beautiful trailer. However, doesn't mean game will be all that. Just look to DCU Online for an example of that!

After seeing this, I'm even more convinced that Disney was super lazy in their "emotion-capture" for Tron. Jeff Bridges looked like an after pictue for BoTox. The digital animation of facial expressions in this trailer Blow Tron: Legacy away.

Animation: Good

Miss Croft having small breasts: Bad move.

amazing, amazing, awesome, this is the Lara Croft I want to see in the movies, hopefully the live action reboot is quite similar to this game, and hopefully put to Ashley Greene in the role of Lara

i don't like the redesign of the character, the big lipped big boob look WAS lara croft. not trying to sound sexist but when you take a iconic character and make them look like some kinda anime/cyberpunk girl then your taking away the appeal of the character.
GlowingBall

@Grif

She doesn't sound like a robot. She sounds like she is tired...or is talking about something from her past that pains her. It is like she is re-telling her origin story (which is what this game is about) and it hurts her deeply to remember those times and the things she had to do to survive.

@DoodPool

I disagree. This Laura looks more realistic. She looks like someone who could really exist. This helps to make her easier to connect to and to feel like she is someone you have to help survive. It draws you into feeling like you are personally responsible for her safety. She isn't a walking female Duke Nukem now, but her vulnerability and naivety makes her a better character. It fits a survival/horror game a lot better.

Ummmm why is there a stupid reboot for a video game? The only reason to reboot a video game is if your computer or game system locks up

hot damn!!! these computer graphics blow me away. they should make all movies like this instead of real actors and real sets, it would nt cost as much money too cause they dont have to build anything!!!
