Paul Rudd's 'Scott Lang' Is No Longer A "Con Man" In Marvel's ANT-MAN

Marvel have released an updated synopsis for Edgar Wright's Peyton Reed's Ant-Man, and it reveals some of the changes made from the original script since Adam McKay and Paul Rudd rewrote it...including the fact that Scott Lang is no longer a con man! Find out his new profession here.

Depending on how you look at this, this is either a major or minor change to the movie! It could just be that Marvel decided to change the wording in the synopsis because "master thief" sells a little easier than "con man". However, it seems more likely that this is a change made in the new script which was written by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. A master thief can of course still be a con man, so I wouldn't get all that worried that too many alterations have been made to the Scott Lang character! That "TBD" screenplay credit is very telling however as there will likely be a lot of complications with the Screen Actors Guild over who should get credit for Ant-Man. Regardless, being a master thief could be considered an upgrade! Share your thoughts on these changes below!

Well, i just have to ask...why? Does every superhero have to have one great skill, "con man isn't enough, MASTER THIEF is more like it!

Do you call professional fishermen "master-baiters"?

It still gets me that this is taking place after Age of Ultron.

It's not gonna be an aftermath of an 8 foot robot and his goons taking over the world?

Pena could be playing Tarantula, plus there's a few minor Paxtons out there too. Death's Head seems to be the only significant one, but no idea what he'd be doing in an Ant-Man movie.

Probably just made up characters though

@PymParticle

It was known for a while it was gonna be Lang's movie and not Pym's.

I think he's more like the second lead from what we've been seeing. But yeah, still a lot more supporting than lead.

I'M CALLING IT: Marvel's first flop (i.e. it will make less than $150 million domestic and less than $250 million world wide).

If this movie is anything like the scene from Iron Man 3 when Tony snuck into (broke into) the mansion, I will love it.

Hello Guys, I hope you all are having a great week. I know that antman seems like really away from his comic book roots but I think that Marvel Studios will deliver another jewel like GOTG!

Scott Lang wasn't ever a "Master Thief." His story was tragic in that he had to dip back into his checkered past of burglary for his family. SMDH

I don't want any heat from this comment but IMO, I don't think this is gonna be nowhere near as successful as the GOTG. Marvel feelings towards The Incredible Hulk (2008) might shift to this film.

Okay see ya!

I approve if this change!

Him being a master thief doesn't make a difference to me; we were told it was going to be like a heist film a while back, so I have no complaints. I always thought being a master thief was better than a con man anyway.

I've always thought Ant-Man was lame so I don't care how much they change his background from the comics. If the trailer blows me away, I'll watch it in theaters. If not, I'll just wait for the rental.
