Negotiations continued fast and hard between agents for Mark Ruffalo and executives at Marvel, with the expectation on both sides that the actor would be confirmed to play "The Hulk" in upcoming Marvel movies, replacing Ed Norton, The Wrap has learned.

And the aim was to wrap up negotiations on Friday so Ruffalo could fly in from the east coast to join the cast of "The Avengers," movie that will be one of the crowning crowd-pleaser events at Comic-Con in San Diego.
While this seems to be obvious news, in 48 hours we'll know for sure as Marvel Studios' promotes

And with Joss Whedon confirmed for the director’s chair, The Avengers stars Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Ruffalo apparently.
While production is expected to begin early next year, according to sources, Marvel is currently scouting film locations in New York City, with the Queens desired. And Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are set to unite on the big screen May 4, 2012.
