Some people say that Thanos should not appear in, or only have an after credits scene in The Avengers. I say that Thanos should appear in the Avengers, and have a large role. He should not have the Infinity Gauntlet, for then he would be much too powerful for the team. I am saying these things because Loki would not make a good enough villain. If Thor can defeat him by beating him up a little, and then putting his hammer on Loki's chest, alone, then I think that adding Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, and the freaking HULK to the picture, would make for a, with the cube, 5 minute final battle.. The Skrulls couldn't do much. They would really just be a thorn in the Avenger's side.I mean, Cap took out hundreds of Nazi's. With high-tech weaponry at their disposal. I think that just Loki would be to easy.

Enter Thanos. The Mad Titan. One of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. Up against the most powerful team in the Marvel Universe (I want NO X-men comments). It would make for the most EPIC final boss battle yet. Say, 10 to 20 minutes of battling. The reason I say yet is because of possible sequels. Avengers 2 would give us Ant-man,Wasp,Black Panther, and the villain be Ultron. Hank Pym's rouge AI. Thanos would capture Thor and force him to tell how to get to Asgard. He would go while the Odinsleep is going on.He would enter the vault.

Enter the Infinity Gauntlet. Avengers 3. The Skrull-Kree war on Earth, with Thanos in the shadows. When the Avengers think it's over, worse things happen. Thanos could level New York in an instant, or have the Avengers die. He leaves the choice to the public. They know the two alien races will be back, and that only the Avengers can stop them. But, if New York is leveled, it would leave thousands homeless, and uncountable number of people dead.

Thanos would be amazing to see on screen. Yes, I loved Tom Hiddleston as Loki, but it would be too easy for the Avengers to beat him.

skrulls are just a thorn in their side and not a serious threat? WHAT?

okay...anyway, why would Thanos go through the trouble of getting a cosmic, godlike weapon like the Gauntlet, and then leave decisions up to the public on earth? He's not the Joker.

and again, really? you don't think a planetary invasion from an alien race of shapeshifters is a serious threat? that alone is threat enough, but add Loki with the Cosmic Cube and a brainwashed Hulk to that, and the Avengers would need a miracle to win.

@ intruder

i hate Kang too. but i hate most stories that deal with time travel, and thats what he's all about. so yeah, he sucks.

You're entire argument for Thanos seems to be the fact that then end battle would be 10 to 20 minutes long whilst Loki would only be 5 mins???

Is there nothing else that you wanna see in the film?

I agree that Thanos should appear in the MCU...eventually. Unless Marvel wants to completely disrespect the history of the Infinity Gauntlet, they will have to bring in Thanos and Adam Warlock. It would be better for them to appear after Dr. Strange so people can have longer to accept a less realistic movie universe.

@Intruder and @CorndogBurgler

Are you sure, I mean Kang seems like a reasonable villain for the Avengers to fight in the movie next to the Skrulls and Thanos. I mean, from what I heard, the enemies the Avengers will face is something no one hero can face alone and is summoned by Loki due to strength; maybe Loki could have called Kang from the future and told him to go back in time to conquer the 21st century, just to gain some sort of godly pride.

@BigK1337 - Why pick the 21st century? Isn't there a lot of other places in time he could conquer?

This could be a stupid question, but I visit this site pretty regularly and I dont remember reading any solid confirmation of the Skrulls. Was it ever stated that the Skrulls would definately appear in the movie, and for more than a cameo?

@comiccow6 Wow! I'm really liking your ideas...Imo I think there's a huge chance Thanos is in this cos of the Infinity Gauntlet showing up at SDCC 2010. The Skrulls have been confirmed to NOT be appearing in the film.

I like how you thought of ways to get Antman, Wasp & BP (though I dont think BP will feature in any of the Avengers films unless he has his own stand-alone film). And I like the idea of Ultron being the baddie for the sequel! However I would like the Gauntlet to appear in this movie itself- "then he would be much too powerful for the team"??? I think thats the point of the team right? Having them conquering a HUGE challenge in front of them "together"??

As much as I love Thanos and the Infinity Gaunlet saga, for this film, I doubt it.

If we all remember Iron Man's after credit scene, Fury tells Iron-Man that he needs him for the Avengers Initiative. I gather that Marvel wants there to be something to "avenge" so as to switch that light bulb on in fans who are familiar to be like "Ooooh, thats why they are called the Avengers."

Now I'm assuming that the cosmic cube will be involved in this film. If Thanos even got a sniff of the cube, there wouldn't be any time for an Avengers team to even be assembled.

Another thing is, Thanos is way too powerful for the first film. Marvel needs to create some dead weight heros before the A's face Thanos...that way, he can wipe 1 or two out without being terribly missed (because i'd personally be offended if thanos didnt kill, erase, etc. some important people in any movie he is in).

Though, Loki would be a great substitute for Mephisto in the IG saga.

My thoughts:

Skrulls and Loki for Avengers 1. Keep the motivations simple, toss the Hulk in there to rampage, and some in fighting between RDJ and Cap. Viola.

BTW, I've been hearing that Marvel may be getting the rights back to Fantastic four next year. Is this true?

The end scene when Fury says "To save the World" implies a cosmic threat Loki with the Cosmic Cube and some allies in a deal he has made could be formidable , but i'm tending to think we have a Scrull Invasion.
I hope not , I'd prefer loki doing a deal with Hydra or osborn or even Leviathan they seem more into the mystical..
