IGN recently interviewed Adam West, and actor that is currently known for his voicework on Family Guy as the quirky Mayor. But, before he was making us laugh on Fox' popular animated series he was playing Batman in the campy 60's television series.

When Adam West was asked to share his thought's on Christopher Nolan's grittier version of Batman he had nothing but praise.
West: Yes! Absolutely. I'm a fan of anything that's good, especially when it's conscientiously good.

One of the many rumors circling Nolan's final Batman film, is that he might be inclined to knock off The Dark Knight for good.
West: To me, it's an interesting idea because Batman – the character, the legend, the extension of it over all these years – it lends itself to different machinations, layers, different time zones – anything. You could really pretty much mold Batman. He's malleable, welcome and always interesting. They [Christopher Nolan] do The Dark Knight, and I did The Bright Knight. Ours was fun for the whole family.

Of course Adam West is part of the rumor mix as well, when filming had begun across the pond rumors began to sprout that the actor could be making a cameo in The Dark Knight Rises. When Adam West is asked about that possibility he responds:
West: [laughing] I'd love to play Batman, and come in one night, flying in through the library window on the wings of a bat, or something. Right when Batman is totally overwhelmed with terrible things happening in Gotham City, and give him some advice. Either as real character or fantasy character – whatever. [joking] As mentioned earlier, Batman lends itself to all kinds of different story lines.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

thats a tremendous idea
as long as he does not play the part as he did previously,if he was encouraged to play a dark version ,im sure he could..he is supposedly a good actor.

Used to watch his Batman as a kid. Go watch the Dark Knight Rifftraxxx. When Joker is in Wayne's penthouse and they all start brawling.......the Rifftraxxx guys just started humming the 60's Batman fight theme song. It is spot on.

Everyone should be thanking Adam West for his portrayal of Batman. Without it we wouldn't have The Dark Knight. In the early 70s DC wanted to counteract the 60's TV show and started down a path that would lead to Frank Miller's book and Michael Uslan producing the 1989 movie, thus giving us a grittier interpretation.

@razor. Agreed! It's all to the good. Decades from now, when the serious Batman films start to fail at the box office they'll go back to making 'funny' Batman films/TV again.

Razor I "third" that sentiment. Adam has managed to stay relevant without being a pale parody of an old acting gig. I think the man is amazing, hope he's around for a while.
