Remember he was an orphan. There lays the possibility that John Blake was the name given to him by the orphanage.. Perhaps his bio parents are the Graysons?

John Blake isn't becoming Robin. He's becoming the new Batman. Isn't it obvious?!! Why all the Robin talk. That's is name, so what, That's not the point. Excellent ending for those who can understand that. Got me chills.

Im with @rebellion one line of diolouge could have saved us from the mash up mess that now makes a 6th Robin in the batman universe.....I hope the reboot does Robin in the right way and explores the Bruce/whatever robin they choose relationship.

So, where did he get his mad ninja skills from.. The Police Academy?

Fighting off grabby priests at the orphanage, I would imagine. TDKR was such a disappointment to me.

I liked the movie, it had some major plot holes but was a good action movie.

But the trilogy is done, reboot time.

Batman quitting for eight years did it in for me.

Yes, if you like action movies with guns and martial arts, The Raid Redemption is worth watching. I may go buy it tomorrow on Bluray myself.

I really dug the ending to TDKR. Would love to see JGL and what he does next, but am pretty sure that is not in the cards. Either way, really satisfying end to the trilogy in my opinion. Everyone I know that saw it (non-comic book nerds)loved the movie and the ending.

Yeah, right. He'll become Batman without being trained by Bruce Wayne or anyone. And I'm Dumbo.

Bruce should stay on duty in the end. No way he'd be hanging out around the world while Gotham needs him.

THAT'S. NOT. THE. BATMAN. I. KNOW.

I like this guy, JGL. He's very personable. And Kimmel's show is great. So much looser than Leno or Letterman.

I hated TDKR. Even more so after viewing TDK again. And I hate that John Blake's real name is "Robin". I think it's dumb & it was aimed towards, let's say, common folk who don't know the Batman mythology as well as us. The reveal was really hokey too: "You should use your real name... ROBIN". I also thinking setting up more movies after touting this as a definitive ending is a bit of an insult. BUT I happen to like JGL as an actor & I happened to like his character in that otherwise awful movie. I'm open to see where they might take this.

He wouldn't be Nightwing he would be Batman. Bruce tells him that anyone can be Batman because all he is, is a symbol and at the end of the film we see the Bat-Signal fixed. What would be the point of fixing it just to call someone who isn't Batman.

TDKR is not a Batman movie. It´s a good movie and Batman hamppens to be in it... But i did´nt feel like I was wathcing a bats-flick.
nvision

It probably won't happen but if it did they should not have him as the next batman but nightwing. Of course in the begining he would be a batman type of character but then he goes through somethings which he can't handle on his own which Bruce finds out and comes back to Gotham to rescue him and then become his mentor. During this time he becomes his own being which is nightwing. He could become robin in the begining or just batman type character it really depends on the whole script and the vision of the movie but in order to work they need to bring back Christian Bale at least for a short time since basically he will only suite up as batman once to free Blake then to mentor him as Bruce wayne. He will come to Gotham secretly.

Adding the penquin as a mob boss and black mask as his main henchman and harley quinn as a new age psycologist that new joker before he became joker would be a good start.

"Training is nothing, Willpower is everything"- Ra's Al Ghul

The movie franchise is over, what's the point in nitpicking an non-existing future? There are so many ways Blake could've reacted upon discovering the Batcave. It's entirely possible that he just says "Neato" and walks away from the cave. And lets not forget Bruce didn't even use many fighting styles to fight crime. In all 3 movies he pretty much just uses the Keysi fighting method with his arms up to his head, so it wouldn't be that tough for Blake to adapt.

GuardianAngel - 8/15/2012, 7:58 AM
Pretty sure Robin was just a nod and he's becoming Batman. But then again it would kill the whole purpose of the city building him a statue in his honor. Maybe he could be Nightwing.

Who the [frick] cares about how it ended. Its over already.Ur never gonna c JGL become Batman or whoever. Its a conclusion 2 the trilogy. There aren't many good trilogies out there & this 1 is.Its not a great movie but its a great ending to a trilogy that he started.

BB>TDK>TDKR = Best CBM Trilogy

@TheBurn - Just goes to show just how much people simply don't understand what they watch no matter how plain or simple you make it. Clearly Bruce fakes his death because he's found someone to take his place as Batman. Nolan cameoing John Blake's legal name as "Robin" as a nod to fans derails any train of rational thought for many people and they instantly think he's supposed to be Robin the boy wonder instead of Robin Blake as they state his legal name is.

It doesn't matter that they see Bruce and Selina starting a new life under a clean slate they gave themselves using the program. It doesn't matter how many times the film tells them that Batman is meant to be a symbol, ANYONE CAN BECOME BATMAN! It doesn't matter that Blake follows Bruce's trail tot he Batcave to learn how to use all his stuff and it doesn't matter that Wayne Manor is now a home for orphaned boys.

These idiots put 2 and 2 together and end up with 1, one train of ridiculous thought, that "Robin" Blake is gonna become "Robin" the boy wonder instead of the next Batman; the Symbol that Bruce left behind to become his legacy. I suppose in their world it makes perfect sense that Robin would make a good first name as well as a secret identity because who'll figure that out? ..Idots!

And this is why I pay little heed to reviews, most people simply don't comprehend fully what they're watching to really assess a film properly. Just look at the Bourne Legacy reviews and watch the movie and you realise they don't understand the meaning of the word LEGACY otherwise they wouldn't be moaning about Jason not being in the film!

Jeez people the film litteraly slaped it in your face when Bruce explained to Blake in the car that Batman was a symbol not just one particular person but a shell that could be passed on to whom ever had the will to fight for Gotham...
