BATMAN v SUPERMAN: 'The Daily Planet' Returns In Chicago; Is "Jim" Gordon In The Movie?

The Daily Planet logo has been erected in a Chicago office block, and you can see it right here! Far more intriguing is the fact that a number of trailers have been spotted for characters in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and one might just be for a certain Commissioner...

The image above comes courtesy of Twitter user @Henkepotamuswhile Batman-News have more shots of it being constructed. As you can see, it looks identical to the one used in Man of Steel, so the newspaper office clearly hasn't undergone too big of a make-over since the last time we saw it! The site have also heard from someone who tells them that "Trailers and trucks in street below with signs for “Bruce” and “Lois”. Also some other random signs for characters like “Sage”, “Card”, and “Jim”. I read that there were permits for Millenium Park too but didn’t see any activity there." This could be an indication that Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane will share some scenes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and that "Jim" sign...could it be Commissioner Jim Gordon? If this was Gotham, perhaps, but it seems unlikely given the fact we've heard nothing about casting. "Jim" Olsen? How about "Sage" and "Card"? Share your thoughts in the usual place...

Err "Jim" as in Jimmy Olsen. Scoot McNairy is rumoured to be him.

lol I remember in the Superman Returns game you could throw the Daily Planet at citizens or even just slightly bump into it and it'll tumble down. That game was so bad but that was great.

Cool. The "Jim" probably refers to "Jim" Olsen; I remember some speculation (forgot where) that they're calling him that instead of Jimmy.

How come no one gets mad at transformers for destroying buildings? I'm sure a lot of people died in Avengers too? They stopped the bad guys tho? Same as man of steel no?

Why would Gordon be at the daily planet? Unless they're filming some Gotham scenes over there also. Or it's Jimmy Olsen. But then, wouldn't it say Jimmy instead?

People get made at the Transfomers because they suck ass. And there was far less destruction in the Avengers than in Man of Steel.

@Joppida, it basically comes down to how it was handled and tone. Marvel is "Lighter" so an Alien invasion and the damage that could cause is played down, so we never really see the aftermath... a building, well several, collapse in that final scene, but we are just not shown the imagery that would reflect such an event.

MoS took a more graphic, very post 9/11 inspired, approach to the imagery, we actually see what an alien invasion would do if they had weapons, powers and technology greater than our own, so we get the strong indications of the death toll so perhaps was too heavy for a CBM.

Was Superman careless, yes: He blasted Zod's ship from the sky and let it fall into the city, but at the same time so did the Avengers they were blasting things out the sky and letting them fall, heck Hulk and Thor let one smash into a train station probably killing a few people but they shared a joke.

I am not saying either one has the right approach, although the argument Avengers was better recieved would indicate they are, but I personally feel MoS took a direction that people weren't at ease with in a CBM and that coupled with one or two errors lead to it being overly critiqued.

"How come no one gets mad at transformers for destroying buildings? I'm sure a lot of people died in Avengers too? They stopped the bad guys tho? Same as man of steel no?"

Not that I even care about this particular topic (which has been beaten to death several times over), but let's be real: it's not like the beacon of goodness, the symbol of hope, the ideal that we all should strive for...it's not like that guy was the one who was being thrown through buildings in Transformers or The Avengers.

That's the difference. That's why those movies get a pass, and Man of Steel doesn't. It's because it involved the character of Superman. People simply expect more from Superman. So when he's involved with the destruction of large swaths of a city, when he's forced to kill the first enemy he's ever faced with his bare hands, it's kind of a bad optic. For a Superman movie, it just looks bad. Hence the backlash and outcry over all that. I really don't know what is so hard to grasp about that.
