At the very end of the following video, The Today Show asked Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson about his mystery lead role in a future DC Comics adaptation. While previous interviews had the wrestler-turned-actor all but confirm that he's playing Shazam, the Hercules star now comments briefly on the development stage of the movie itself. “Yes, it is going to happen,” he told NBC's Today host. “I’ve been dying to announce it by the way…We still have to find the right writer. We’re having two, three takes right now. But I’m very excited about it. It’s going to be great. I’ve been waiting a long time for this and so have the fans, by the way.” Watch the video below!

People really want Dwayne Johnson? I wouldn't let the guy ten feet next to a beloved character.

With the amount of fanboy excitement he has been showing about his DC role, I think he might actually be Black Adam, something he and the fans have been waiting "a very long time" to see.

Very cool, and I love that they've gone through several writers and (it's suggested) will only stop once the script is perfection.

It's a fail on every conceivable level for him to not lend his voice to Bat-Mite's enticingly punchable visage.

The more and more I hear about it the more I am excited to see what he will do with the character.. It's fun when the actors or actresses are actually passionate about the character they are portraying and The Rock seems genuinely enthusiastic..

I just hope that if he is involved in the DCCU that it's a small role with few lines. Johnson looks good on screen but he's a terrible actor. I was excited about the great actors that the DCCU had casted like Cavill, Affleck and Ray Fisher. But then they had to go and cast the likes of Gadot, Momoa, and now the Rock? They're trying to turn the DCCU into Fast & Furious.

WTF? C'mon it can't be Shazam can it? That's sooooo wrong.
He's dead on perfect as the bad guy Black Adam!
Shazam is a kid transformed into a man in his prime, yea Dwayne is a fit guy but he's got some age on him that shows.
That age only helps his look as Black Adam,he's an ancient Egyptian.
So wrong if he's the hero & not the villain.

@HAILHYDRA Have you seen him in Snitch? The guy's a decent actor.

I guess this is a good move if WB want's to keep getting blasted by the critics. Pretty much everything The Rock gets casted in get's ripped apart by critics.

Shazam/Captain Marvel or Black Adam, either way awesome. The Rock has really proven himself recently to be a competent and enjoyable acting presence in any film he's in.

Can't they just get Cavill to play Superman and Shazam since they look the exact same anyways?
