Has JJ Feild Been Confirmed For 'Union Jack' in Captain America Movie?

The rumor that Union Jack would be joining Captain America on the battlefield in Marvel's upcoming adaption may turn out to be true, according to a few random tweets!

A week ago, the Internet Movie Database(IMDB) added American-born English actor JJ Feild to the ensemble of Marvel's much anticipated Captain America movie. IMDB known for being unreliable at times & Feild's listed implausibly as the British superhero Montgomery Falsworth, aliased Union Jack from the Marvel comics, it was a major rumor awaiting a big debunk.

But now I've set eyes on the following tweets from users Lee Randell & Liz P that just may confirm this major rumor.

Lee Randell doesn't have a web link on her Twitter account, but her profile name is "RandallWrites" implying that she could be a journalist. And with the power of Google, I found a rather old article/interview with JJ Feild at Scottish news site The Scotsman , with a "Lee Randell" listed as the conductor. And being that this Randell's Twitter has "Edinburgh, Scotland" for her location, I assume they're the same person.

While this find still isn't anything "official", proceed in taking "JJ Feild joining Captain America on the battlefield in The First Avenger" as a rumor, but with a little more faith.

In other Captain America news, I was told that in the following week, Joe Johnston & the crew will shoot scenes involving The Hackney Empire theatre in London Borough of Hackney. And the scene(s) will feature most of the film's lead, with Tommy Lee Jones (Col. Chester Phillips) there for sure.

Anyhow, Joe Johnston directs Chris Evans (Captain America) Hugo Weaving (Red Skull), Tommy Lee Jones (Gen. Chester Philips), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Stanley Tucci (Abraham Erskine), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Toby Jones (Arnim Zola), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury). And Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22, next year.

Hmmm...intriguing find DCMF! :) I'd honestly a little happier if they went for a British actor that I knew a little more about, but I've heard good things about this guy and would honestly just be glad to see Union Jack on the big screen! That's one step closer to Captain Britain after all, lol!

DCMarvelfreshman, great job!
@Inspace
maybe its no tights, but remember, Cap is also "no tights". It doesn't mean he doesn't have an outfit/uniform. We gotta keep up the faith on this.

what NO TIGHTS?!? noooooooooooooooo!!!

lol Just kidding!

I do hope they have his signature mask and flag on his outfit though!

@ marsambassador: Zemo has been mentioned at least once but nothing has been confirmed. I agree it seems like he should be in this, but if it ends up being just Red Skull and Arnim Zola I'll be fine with that.

@ Brazilianbatman: Nope. Two different characters. BUT I should say that Union Jack is a lot more like Britain's version of Captain America than the actual Captain Britain. Minus the Super Soldier serum of course. Union Jack had no powers, but was a highly skilled soldier and hand to hand combatant. Also I don't think that he was a national hero like Cap either. I think he was mostly a covert ops kind of dude.

Apparently, there are 3 guys who've assumed the name, I wonder on will be in the film, if the character's in there?

captain america is gonna be an awesome movie,i need to know who they're gonna cast as namor & the original human torch.

@ leee777

an invaders spin off movie is an awesome idea, mate.

they can do battle with the likes of hitler, baron zemo, the red skull, master man, warrior woman & u-man.

i think this idea deserves a hi-five & a fist punch.

Cool news Feild is good actor!

By the way! Captain Britain is not in this! That would be very far fetch!:D... Thou not entirely impossible!

And MICHAEL FASSBENDER IS CAPTAIN BRITAIN! I mean he looks exactly like Brian Braddock in the comics! Just dye his hair blond!

Baron Zemo cameo would be great!

Not sure why some people are thinking Captain britain would be in this movie...I wish they would make a Captain britain movie, but it would take a bigger leap for the audience than Thor will, it has a lot of mystical references to the Arthurian legend, maybe Thor will pave the way for it.

I would be more surprised if Union Jack wasn't in the movie.Johnston said he's going to feature the Invaders. But it's obvious he's not going to throw in the powered members. It would probably take too much back story to have Sub Mariner or the Torch. So I would guess it will probably be a lineup consisting of Cap,Bucky,Union Jack,Miss America, did Spitfire have powers?I can't remember.
Although Johnston did mention Namor will appear in some form albeit a Namor without his weird ass ankle wings.

@Juggernaut I thought UJ got some power after fighting Thor. I remember he could shoot lightening from his hands or something
ManThing

@ Das: I don't think so.

But then again it could have happened in a book that I don't have.
Every comic I have personally ever read with him in it just had him as an extremely seasoned brawler. Like an SAS type of guy but with a lot of specialized hand to hand training.

Union Jack had no powers. He was a superb marksman and good with hand to hand combat. That is it.

Sorry, I should have qualified that as the original Union Jack. It will be interesting to see if they go with Montgomery or his son, Brian for the film. Montgomery battled in WWII and then turned over the mantle to Brian when they reunited after Baron Blood was defeated.
