CAPTAIN MARVEL: Get Your First Look At Brie Larson In Full Costume As The Space-Faring Hero

We found out that the star of Spike Lee's acclaimed Netflix drama series She's Gotta Have it joined the cast back in January, but it seems she was forced to step away due to scheduling conflicts with the second season of the show.

The character Wise would have played wasn't revealed at the time and is not mentioned here, but there's speculation that it might have been Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Spectrum, who also operated under the mantle of Captain Marvel early on.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as the titular hero, and is set to fly into theaters on March 8, 2019.

Man, if she was really playing Monica Rambeau, that has to hurt. Really hurt.

@Chewtoy - Must hurt real bad if it was Monica. Could've been career defining stuff if so.

@Zer0squad - It’s definitely a role with serious possibilities for the future. I imagine that agents have gone into a frenzy trying to get their clients considered for the role.

@Chewtoy - Yeah, I'm thinking at the worst it'd be like Hulk levels of involvement where even if she doesn't get her own movies she'd be heavily featured in other movies. Especially now given WW/Black Panther's reception and the heavy push for diversity.

@Chewtoy - Awwww man, I was *really* hoping that would be her angle in CM. She would be spot-on

...maybe CM2? Still future potential ...

Sucks the schedules conflicted, DC would be wise to bring her in to play Barda

Damn that's unfortunate.

If Monica was indeed the character, Dawn-Lyen Gardner would make for a nice replacement

Not really familiar with her work, but I think she'd have made a nice addition to the MCU family.

You're right.
Being another black sidekick to another blonde in the MCU is the way to go. I mean it worked so well for Anthony Mackie.

It's a pattern in the MCU. People of color are support to white guys. Iron Man, Cap, Ant-man, Star-Lord, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Thor, now Captain Marvel.

@Battabing - yeah well what is going on in DC then considering Killer Croc was from the ghetto, that shit was so stereotypical made me sick
