Orlando Bloom's Possible '$1 Million For Two Minutes' Appearance In "The Hobbit"!

Yes, you read it correctly - a report is claiming that Orlando Bloom has been offered a whopping $1 Million to reprise his role as Legolas for just two minutes in "The Hobbit"!

This from Heat World: "Orlando Bloom is reportedly set to earn over $1 million for a two-minute appearance in new movie The Hobbit."

Martin [Freeman] will be joined by other British stars Robert Kazinsky and Aidan Turner, both of whom are reportedly taking home a combined pay-check that is less than Orlando’s. That should make for a good atmosphere on set. Not that Orly will actually be there for that long, so that’s something."

So CBMers, is an Orlando/Legolas cameo really worth that much? Discuss below!

more power to him if it's true but i can't see them paying him that much for 2 minutes. you can always find a look-a-like actor or just leave out legalos altogether. obviously his character isn't that important to the story if he's only making a 2 minute appearance!

He'd be an idiot to turn it down if it is in fact true. I think it would be cool to see his character pop up in the film.

1 million for 2 minutes? He's not that popular lol. Yeah, Legolas is cool, and one of the best characters in the previous films, but hell no. The only person who should get that kind of money should either be Ian Mckellen or Viggo M. as Aragorn. If anyone deserves that spot and money, it's those two.

plus you know you can just get a look alike and use a little bit of CGI to make him look more like legolas
if they could do it in T4:SALVATION why not here

This is Peter Jackson directing in the wilds of New Zealand, folks.
That two minutes of screen time will probably mean Bloom's wading through mud for two months to make sure the director's happy!

If it adds to or improves the story why the hell not?

He's probably getting paid for a few days shooting, not for 2 minutes of work. common sense folks, thats not unheard of. and it will be worth it cause you know he'll be in the trailer and that is worth it for the advertising alone.

Makes sense. For me, there were much more memorable characters, but any teeny-bopper-Twilight-infused girl will tell you the most memorable thing about LOTR was the pretty blonde guy.

I think it would be worth it to see him appear in Mirkwood. With the MCU tying together characters in the same world it would be cool to see other films do the same thing.

Lets keep in mind that these reports are mostly hearsay. It could actually be less than $1 million and could very well end up being more than 2 mins. of screen time (remember, he's likely to be in Mirkwood as well as one of the principal combatants at the Battle of the 5 Armies). I say, who here should really care what someone's getting paid, etc. as long as we get an epic film? Which, I imagine, we will!

Really? If that is true than it is [frick]ing rediculous. This proves Actors are the most overpaid "workers". That's absolutely insane. Think of the help you could give people who NEED it with that money...but no, Orlando ([frick]ing-rich) Bloom takes (at most) 1 day out of his life to shoot a 2 minute scene, and he gets $1 million. insane.

What was he paid for the trilogy? I could see Jackson giving him this as a 'bonus' if he was paid less than everyone else, and based on the wording it doesn't sound like he was asking for that much but rather had it offered to him

This, if true, is exactly why I am so against cameos! It's a complete waste of money that could be used to increase someone's (more deserving) pay or use it on the film itself. [frick] I hate cameos!
