Does Parallax Kill Abin Sur in Green Lantern?

Does Parallax Kill Abin Sur in Green Lantern?

Trailer screen caps might reveal that the Fear Entity itself is responsible for Abin Sur's death!

Many people have talked about the scene in the Green Lantern trailer at 2:05 where it appears Abin Sur is flying through a "yellow wall." However, I managed to slow down the 0.7 second clip and capture still images from it.

It appears that Abin Sur is actually in the cockpit of his ship when the yellow glow throws him from his seat, crashing him through the back of his ship's bridge. If you look closely, you can see the source of all the yellow light, partially blocked by the front of the vessel. There is a definite object emitting the yellow light, as evidenced by the almost solid object, best seen in the final still.

Many people have speculated that Krona, infected by Parallax, kills Abin Sur. Could this be evidence that the Fear Entity itself performs the coup de gras?

Interesting! I do not want to speculate and I wont. I will however rule out Santa Claus, Jesus, Spider Pig and Dr. House. I wouldnt be suprised if it was Parallax however.
Its most definitely not Sinestro since he would never kill Abin, no matter what.
I dont know how Hammond gets infected by Parallax, and I must confess I havent read any true spoilers. I am not sure how I would feel if its something like "the yellow element" like in GL FF that Abin is transporting and Parallax wants out. But aaaa-okay!
Cool article tim3186!

WTF????

Its too early to put PARALLAX in this!???

It'll turn into 'The Sci-Fi Suck of The Summer' instead of 'The Star Wars of Superheroes' if they do!

: P

Seriously NO.

i thought it was something to do with sinestro & "the yellow power".

but you do see people running & screaming in the trailer with the cops firing at something,it could be parallax.

It's way to early to turn Sinestro from Green Lantern to Yellow Lantern Leader.

I've read the script, Sinestro doesn't turn in this film, and hopefully he won't turn in the next either. WB/DC should wait until the 3rd film...

@Lee

Isn't Parallax in this film? And doesn't he infect Hammond? Why is it so terrible if he's introduced in the first film?

Also, I saw the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night, and I saw the Green Lantern trailer with it. I gotta say... the trailer was not what I expected when I saw it in theaters. Usually trailers feel all the more epic seeing them on the big screen, but I looked over at my friend, and we both agreed that the trailer did not look that exciting. We both were anxiously waiting as we had friends with us who hadn't seen the trailer. As we put ourselves in our friends' position, we felt kinda "meh" at the trailer. The CGI did look really bad on the big screen, which surprised me because I thought it looked great on the computer. And the audience's reaction was kinda lackluster. Cowboys and Aliens actually generated some applause, but Green Lantern ended with some tiny bits of laughter. I'm being honest here. It really surprised the hell out of me. But after seeing it on the big screen, I can understand where some people are coming from when they say that the movie looks like it might have some cheese factor in it.

They already said that Parallax is the reason for Abin Sur's death and that a fragment of Parallax infects him. That is why when Hector Hammond takes Abin Sur's body he is infected with Parallax causing his transformation.

"Many people have speculated that Krona, infected by Parallax, kills Abin Sur."

EXACTLY THIS! Look carefully and see KRONA, a bipedal humanoid form dressed like a Guardian, but taller and possibly looking much like Hector Hammond, except by a bright blueish skin.

looking at the pic of Mark Strong on main page, that's definately Abin Sur. His skin is too purple to be Sinestro. So it's most likely Abin Sur getting attacked by Parallax

uh wasnt it confirmed that parallax infects abins ship, hector hammond tampers with the ship parallax infects hammond and thats how he gets te telepathic powers in the movie

"Peter Sarsgaard will play Hector Hammond in the upcoming live-action film, Green Lantern directed by Martin Campbell.[18] In this version, Hammond is the son of former astronaut Senator Robert Hammond (Tim Robbins) who got him a job within a research company for the government. He obtains his powers while examining the dead body of Abin Sur; **He is exposed to a piece of PARALLAX which was stuck in Sur's body and it causes his brain to grow continuously throughout the film, giving him telepathic and telekinetic powers in the process."

This was pulled from Wiki so take it for what it's worth...not much. However considering everything else I have seen and read it may not be too far off.

Also the person who's in those pictures is clearly being thrown from their ship, whereas abin sur lands on earth in his ship. And in other pictures it does show Hector Hammond with Abin Sur and not his ship, which i presume he probably does have...
They also said that theres strictly only Green Lanterns in this films, although I do hope Sinestro goes yellow at the end. And I hope that there is some mention of other lanterns, preferable Atrocitus!

@MANofSHAZAM - this is Abin Sur. If you watch the scene spliced with Hal gettig the ring, there is clear footage of a much larger ship than What Abin Sur crashes in. Also, one scene shows a green energy ball with a tumbling Abin Sur in it as it merges with what is presumably an escape pod. The pod is then launched from the main ship. The escape pod is what Abin Sur crash lands on Earth in.

It is Parallax that wounds Abin Sur... Hector then gets infected by Parallax when he touches Abin Sur's wound during an autopsy...

And that wiki synopsis is 100% accurate...

@ grifdeadpoolteabag:

It was LEGION, they've reworked the original story, and its actually Parallax.

And that does look like like Chronos!
